INDIA – GREEN & INTELLIGENT
BUILDINGS
Seminar Mission to Chennai and
Hyderabad
9 to 12 December 2008
India's infrastructure sector is going through an unprecedented boom phase with an estimated £37bn worth of
investment per year. This investment includes an increased appetite and interest in green and intelligent buildings.
Many local developers are interested in green design, but lack critical experience. The construction industry is worth
over £28 billion and the market potential for green building products alone is estimated to be around £1.8 billion.
Working with the CII (Indian Green Buildings Council) and CREDAI – Confederation of Real Estate Developers
Associations of India, UKTI is taking a seminar mission to Chennai and Hyderabad to showcase UK capabilities in this
growing and influential sector. Chennai, capital of Tamil Nadu is the major infrastructure base in southern India, and
has the largest concentration of green buildings in India. Hyderabad, like many Indian cities, has undergone a
transformation in recent years and is now the green building capital of India.
We are looking for speakers with expertise in the following areas to join the mission and make a presentation
showcasing UK expertise in the field during the seminar. Required areas of expertise include:
Green architecture
Sustainable design and construction
Energy efficiency
Intelligent buildings
Residential applications and case-studies
Green building materials and technologies
In addition to the seminars, the programme will include site visits, group meetings, and an official reception hosted
by the British Deputy High Commission.
We recommend that you prepare for your visit by identifying and contacting potential business partners before you
arrive. UK Trade & Investment staff at the British Deputy High Commission in Chennai and the British Trade office in
Hyderabad can undertake specific, targeted research on your behalf as part of our Overseas Market Introduction
Service. They can provide fully verified or warmed lists of business contacts, with background information, and assist
you in arranging meetings. The cost will be agreed in advance of the work. For more information, please contact
