Young Apprenticeship in Sports Leadership, Coaching and
                      Management

• The Young Apprenticeship programme provides
an opportunity for 14- to 16-year-olds to
combine the practical application of skills and
knowledge in a vocational context with studying
for qualifications that relate to particular
  occupational sectors which in your
son/daughters case will be the Sports industry.
The time spent on the programme for each
young person is two academic years (Years 10
  and 11).
    Young Apprenticeship in Sports Leadership,
            Coaching and Management

• The programme has been designed as a small-
scale, high-quality route at Key Stage 4 that
offers able, well-motivated pupils the option to
pursue GCSE qualifications in school and
  industry-specific vocational programmes outside
school, in partnership with employers and
involving extended work experience and work-
  related learning.
 Young Apprenticeship in Sports Leadership,
        Coaching and Management
• Through the programme, your son/daughter
will gain awareness of the sports/leisure industry
and the careers open to them beyond the age of
  16. Additionally, it is hoped that pupils'
involvement with new people and different
  learning environments, combined with the
practical demands of organising their time, will
help them to mature, develop social
competencies and come to understand the value
  of lifelong learning.
 Young Apprenticeship in Sports Leadership,
        Coaching and Management
• The young apprenticeship scheme will not
hinder any student progressing on to further or
higher education should they so wish.
 Young Apprenticeship in Sports Leadership,
