The purpose of the Virtual Speaker Series is to inspire and equip participants to make
massive leaps in their entrepreneurial journey. In order for this to happen, participants
must:

    Pull one or more actionable nuggets from each event
    Use an action-oriented mindset to complete those nuggets

                                    Action Principles

Many individuals struggle to bridge the gap between their dreams and actions toward
those dreams. As a result, most dreams stay in people‟s mind‟s as desires until they‟re
abandoned with the justification that they were never realistic.

One of the core reasons that people aren‟t able to bridge this gap is that they‟re never
taught an „action-oriented‟ mindset. Action is mindset, and it‟s learnable.

Unfortunately, many people describe themselves as lazy, when in reality, they‟re just
missing knowledge that they can easily learn.

                              Universal Action Questions

Below are keys for turning Virtual Speaker Series events into action with the right
mindset. Each question increases that odds of you taking action:

   1. What are the most important actions you can take as result of today‟s event?

   2. How long do you anticipate it take to complete those action(s)?

   3. What days & blocks of time will you set aside in order to complete those actions?

   4. What is the first action you can take today?

   5. When today can you take that action?

6. Why is that action really important?

7. What can you do now to ensure that you have the most energy possible during
   that time period?

8. What distractions will you eliminate before the scheduled time period?

9. What reward(s) will you give yourself once you‟ve completed all of the
   outcomes?

10. What consequence will you take on if you don‟t complete the action step?

11. Who can support you in completing the action?

12. What are your biggest challenges to completing the action? How can you
    eliminate those challenges?

                How to Turn General Action Steps into Specific Ones

It is critical for action steps to be measurable. Measurable action steps make it possible
to know whether or not you‟ve actually accomplished the step or not. You will know you
have a clear action step when someone else could easily determine whether or not you
actually completed the step.

For example, let‟s say your action step is “Network.” While networking is great,
networking could mean a million different things. It could be shooting off an email to a
friend or going up an introducing yourself to someone new. Or it could mean introducing
yourself to 10 new people.

Generally, when an action step involves going outside your comfort zone, you will
default to the lowest common denominator in the heat of the moment. For example,
have you ever committed to waking up early in the morning, but didn‟t set an alarm
clock. Chances are that you will only wake up when you aren‟t tired anymore.

                                           is interested in joining a biz.

                          Derek Johnson Discussion Questions

   1. What is your focus or passion?
   2. How will you become an expert in your industry?
   3. Who/what are some media outlets or publications that you should follow or
       connect with in your market?
   4. How can you connect to users in your specific market? Where are your users'
       eyes?
   5. Create an mock text-message ad campaign, what would your promotion be for
       your business?
   6. How do you plan on connecting with media in your market? What does your
       action plan look like? How would you maintain the relationships you develop?
   7. Derek emphasized finding a partner with complimentary qualities, identify your
       strengths and weaknesses and what an ideal partner would look like based on
       that.
   8. Learning from those that went before you is something else that Derek deemed
       important. Who would be a good mentor for you in your industry?
