Home School Tips for Using Filters
What are Filters?
Filters allow users to do an advanced search in VSAS, helping to find just the student, or group of students, with which they need to work. Once filters are set, they are saved to that specific screen until the filter is cleared or modified further.
How to Use Filters
Filters are available at the top of each “My Students” screens 1. Click the “Filter” button 2. Choose “Modify Filter” 3. Enter data into fields, or choose an option from the drop down menus 4. Click “Filter”
“Activity Since” Filter
VSAS displays all students to whom authorizations have ever been issued. To filter and view just those students currently using VSAS, a threshold activity date can be entered in this filter. VSAS will then only display those students who have been authorized (or who have submitted an application) on or after this date.
Campus Filters
Home schools with campuses listed in the Student Records System (SRS) will have an additional “Campus” filter on each screen. It can be utilized to only view students at a particular campus location.
Filter Recommendations
Below are filtering suggestions to assist users in viewing only students for whom an action needs to be performed (i.e. those awaiting a transcript, verification or application release). Depending on your duties in VSAS, some of these filters may not be applicable. “Upload Documents” screen • Transcript filter menu – choose “Not Uploaded” to display students without an uploaded transcript • Status filter menu – choose a specific status to shorten the list further. This can be helpful if, for instance, the preference is to only upload transcripts once a student has “applied” or been “verified” "Verify Students” screen • Verified filter menu – choose “No” to display students awaiting verification “Release Applications” screen • Released filter menu – choose “To be Released” to display students whose applications are awaiting release
