The Game Plan This is not a timed race so there will not be prizes for finishing first. But there will be a selection of outstanding prize packs for different categories so get creative to win the categories “best team name”, "best team car decoration" and "most original answer". Sign up as a team and register before June 30th to be entered into the big prize draw to win from an assortment of Fantastic gifts! All you need is a happy disposition, a motor vehicle and a cell phone to call your friends for help. Maps, clues and snacks will be provided at the start of the hunt. You do not need to be a Greenwich resident as a complimentary beach pass will be included in your registration pack. Mix up your regular Saturday routine with a little something different, and register to participate in our Scavenger Hunt to support the WFP. Whether you are new to the area or lived here your entire life, it’s a great chance to support a local and global charity while meeting new people and getting to know what Greenwich has to offer. One thing you can count on is you will never see this town the same way again What to bring? A can or two of food for local food pantry, camera for family snaps & a sense of adventure! Volunteers/Sponsors We are seeking people to volunteer their time on the day of the event. From signing people in and collecting liability waivers to supervising the contestants along the route, it takes several volunteers to ensure our Scavenger Hunt is a success. We are also searching for more cash prizes, gift certificates and other merchandise to offer as incentives to get participants interested in competing. If you would like to volunteer or if you, your business or organization can help out, please contact: Colleen Wood (203) 302-1912 or Sonja Blom (203) 637-1891 or Lucy Langley (203) 869-8249 WFP.Greenwich@friendsofwfp.org Saturday, 12th September Event Details Date Time Saturday, September 12, 2009 2:00 – 2:30pm Registration/check-in (don’t be late!) 5:00pm - 6:30pm – Tod’s Point Food Fest! Greenwich, CT The Event Are you an Amazing Race addict or do you love scavenger hunts? You can participate in your own scavenger hunt adventure on September 12th, 2009 in the town of Greenwich. The first Greenwich WFP Scavenger Hunt will be more than just a chance to discover the hidden delights of Greenwich, solve clues, have fun and compete for prizes. You can do all of that and feel good about helping support our local food pantry and the World Food Program (WFP) in the fight against global hunger. For this year’s hunt, teams of friends or families will navigate the routes around Greenwich, thinking hard to decode clues that will lead them to find unique items, various checkpoints and related information. Afterwards join us for the delightful tasting of a variety of local restaurants and caterers at Tod’s Point Clambake area! Where Cost Registration Send a check for $100 per vehicle, made out to “Friends of WFP” to: “WFP Committee of Greenwich”, 360 Cognewaugh Road, Cos Cob, CT, 06807 Please include return address, phone # and number of people in car. Who are The Friends of WFP? The Friends of the World Food Program is a US-based nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that supports the United Nations World Food Program. The WFP is the largest humanitarian aid organization in the world and relies 100% on voluntary contributions. In 2008, WFP provided food assistance to around 90 million people in about 80 countries. An estimated 25,000 people die every day from hunger and 18,000 of them are children. The WFP can provide a healthy meal to a child in school for as little as 25cents; $50 will feed a child for the entire school year. This highlights to us that a little bit of change can do a big amount of good. www.friendsofwfp.org Please consider supporting us in our Community Event and feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
