                       Parent Letter of Invitation
April 2009

Dear Parents:

We are pleased to offer your child the opportunity to attend the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint
Unified School District Elementary Summer School program. Summer School will be
held at Valley Elementary School, located at 12333 Eighth Street. The summer session
will begin on Monday, June 15, and ends on Wednesday, July 8. Summer school hours
are 8:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M., Monday through Thursday. There will be no school on
Fridays. Lunch will be served through the cafeteria and is available for purchase if your
child is not part of the free and reduced lunch program. We will have a lunch recess in
the morning, and students are encouraged to bring a nutritious snack from home.
Parents are responsible for their child’s transportation to and from school, as no
transportation services will be provided by the school district.

Attendance and behavior are critical components of this summer session. Students
missing three days of Summer School, or who are consistently tardy, will be dropped
from the program. The education code for discipline will be in effect, and students who
routinely disrupt class will be dropped from the program after notifying parents.

Please complete the front page of the attached form and return it to your child’s school
no later than Friday, May 8. This year’s Summer School enrollment is based upon
student academic needs for remediation or because he/she is at risk of retention.
There will be no enrichment classes offered. Please remember that space is limited
and students will be placed on a first come, first serve basis.

I will send a notice to confirm your child’s enrollment at Summer School.
