									Dear Parents,

           Activities Week 2009 – Monday 6th – Wednesday 8th July 2009

This summer, the last week of the Trinity Term will consist of organised activities for the
Lower School pupils, where the academic timetable will be suspended for three days between
Monday 6th July and Wednesday 8th July. This creates an excellent opportunity for pupils to
mix with others in their year group and pupils in the year above or below. Each pupil will
have a choice of activity in which they wish to participate within certain necessary number

Please read the attached information carefully before indicating your son or daughter’s choice
of activity and indicate in the boxes below, which activities you would prefer by order of
preference (1 being first choice and 5 being last choice). Please reply promptly as they will
be offered on a first come first served basis, according to the number limit on each trip.

I would be grateful if you would return the reply slip below, to reach me no later than
Monday 8th June 2009.

The Activities

Water Activities                                    Price: £105               Yr 7 and 8

For the adventurous and energetic pupils who choose this option, they will spend all three
days away from school, but will return home each evening. During the three days students
will take part in six activities: sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, raft-building, initiative exercises
and archery, and a kayakcanoe expedition along the River Avon

Arts Trip and workshops                             Price: £20                Yr 7 and 8

This activity is designed to inspire those of you who are creative and interested in the Arts.
The trip will involve a one day visit to the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford. The further two
days will be spent in school designing a giant project for display based on the day trip.

Film making                                         Price: £10                Yr 7 and 8

For those pupils interested in drama and the use of film: this workshop is designed
to explore a variety of techniques involved in making a short film. Pupils will work in
a practical environment and produce and edit a short film.

DT and Science workshops                           Price: £20                  Yr 7 and 8

The workshops will be divided into 4 sessions which will involve solving a range of practical
problems, as well as designing and building several devices in the workshop. On the third
day students will spend a day at Drayton Manor Park where they will be able to observe
computer control systems in action as well as having a fun day out!

Dance workshops                                          Price: £35                     Yr 7 and 8

For those who enjoy Dance and want to develop their skills: this workshop will be run by a
professional dancer from the 2Face Dance Company over the three days, introducing a range
of techniques and moves. The workshop is limited to 25 students, allocated on a first come,
first served basis.

Year 7 Cricket Tour                             Price: approx. £100                    Yr 7

This is a three-day cricket tour of the Home Counties with fixtures against three prestigious
schools. Those pupils who know that they are attending should mark it on their option list as
‘Year 7 Cricket Tour’. Those involved with the tour should have already received notification
from Mr. Davis.
