Sit and Sew
Due to popular demand, our “Sit and Sew” sessions now have two groups. Group 1 meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of
each month and Group 2 meets every fourth Thursday. These sessions are a good chance to catch up on projects, get to
meet fellow quilters and exchange exciting ideas in a relaxed and friendly environment. Please note, they are not a
teaching session. Don’t feel you have to sign up for a season though, just book if you’d like to attend that particular
month. We have a maximum of 10 quilters at these sessions so it will be on a “first come, first served” basis!

There are several exciting new quilts that our guest tutors will be teaching for this year alongside other designs that were
on offer through 2008. We have photos of the quilts described below in our store.

Sue Cody
2009 will be Sue’s last year of teaching so don’t miss out ! Sue has four new quilts on offer this year: Ying and Yang is an
appliquéd, Japanese style quilt reminiscent of a Willow Pattern plate (4 x lessons minimum, purchase of pattern required);
Crystal Meadows (a simple, hand appliquéd and machined quilt); Levens Hall Medallion (a new interpretation of a well
known historical quilt, 2 x lessons minimum) and Trinity Hall (centre medallion with four inward facing floral cornucopias,4
x lessons minimum, purchase of pattern required). Sue will also continue to teach a number of her quilts that were
offered during 2008 including Chelsea Rose, Eva Trahern and Ollie May’s Marigold’s 7 as requested.

Karen Cunningham
Karen’s three quilts for 2009 are:
Simply Red, based on an old quilt which Karen has reproduced authentically in the original style. Antoinette is a quick an
easy medallion-style quilt; Summer Sampler is inspired by one of the quilts in the V & A collection known as “Sundial
coverlet” (dated 1797). Karen’s blocks have been selected to represent key milestones in her and her family’s lives.
Photos of all three quilts are able to be viewed in store.
Mondays monthly: 10.00am – 3.00pm: 5 x 5hr lessons - $350

Brigitte Giblin
Please note this year Brigitte will not be teaching in the first semester. We look forward to her return later on in the year.
When she is back Brigitte has a variety of quilts on offer . These include Levens Hall and Carmen Miranda which are just
two quilts that Brigitte teaches in her unique “naïve antique” style amongst others: the first Levens Hall is based on an
antique quilt design and made up of colourful squares, large hexagons and small elongated hexagons pieced together.
Carmen Miranda as the name suggests is an appliqué and pieced quilt full of stunning palm trees and fruit, definitely a
design for those of you who love bright, colourful quilts. Come and benefit from Brigitte’s exciting approach to quilt design
and fabric selection as she guides you through a combination of hand appliqué and machine piecing.
Thursdays (in the 2 semester): monthly. 10am – 2pm: 5 x 4hr lessons - $320

introduction to the basic techniques of patchwork and quilting. I also have a number of other quilts at the shop which I am
happy to teach that are suitable both for beginners and intermediate.

Your Choice. If you are a quilter with projects underway or a specific new quilt you would like to start, we can give all the
guidance and advice you need. We can help you with quilt designs, hand or machine piecing techniques, different
approaches to appliqué – again both by hand or machine, with setting of blocks, adding borders, basting and quilting.
