Dear Sir,
Siting of 3 No. 107m high wind turbines together with associated crane pads, access tracks, site compound, anciliary works and meteorological mast and control building, access to public highway (resubmission to 2/2007/0909) - Reference No: 2/2008/0997
I wish to register my objection to the above application for planning permission for the reasons listed below: 1. The proposed wind turbines would dominate the village of Westnewton and the northern side of Aspatria. 2. The proposed turbines would be being clearly visible from all parts of Westnewton, effectively destroying its current rural aspect. 3. The proposed turbines would produce light and shadow flicker effects that would affect homes. 4. The proposed wind turbines would produce significant amounts of noise. 5. The construction of such a wind cluster would generate a large amount of road traffic during the construction phase. 6. The environmental impact of the construction of the proposed wind turbines would be very significant. 7. The proposed transport route for both construction materials and the turbine components is totally unsuitable due to the road width and layout. 8. The proposed turbines would be located directly in the flight path of low-flying military aircraft. 9. This proposed development has the potential to interfere with the safe operation of air traffic control systems. 10. The proposed turbines would be a hazard for birds, bats and other wildlife during both the construction and operational phases. 11. The proposed turbines would be clearly visible from the northern fell summits of the Lake District and the Solway AONB. 12. Indiscriminate scattered developments such as that proposed would create a ruined landscape and jeopardise earnings from tourism. 13. Approval of this proposal would set a precedent for further wind turbines in the surrounding area. 14. These large structures would probably interfere with television reception, being located between the main body of Westnewton and the transmitter masts. In general, I believe that construction of this wind cluster would completely disfigure the village of Westnewton and its environs. Permitting this development, would undo the results of years of conservation and development control that was designed to ensure that towns and villages like Westnewton were continuously improving or, at least, conserved. This wind cluster would represent an industrialisation of an attractive rural area. The Solway coast is one of the last remaining areas of undeveloped estuarial coastline and should remain so. Please record my objection against this application for planning permission. Yours faithfully,
