LETTER OF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT WORKING AT HEIGHTS

TECHNICAL OFFICER GRADE 1 Dear applicant, As part of the duties of Technical Officer at the NSW Police, installing and maintaining radio transmission devices on towers and other elevated structures may be involved. Only appropriately qualified employees are permitted to carry out these duties. In order to ensure health and safety of our employees Technical Officers must hold a current Working at Heights qualification. Working at heights qualifications involves holding a Senior First Aid certificate, passing Working at Heights training course, and being competent to climb towers more than two metres off the ground. To complete the training you must pass a health assessment noting that you are physically able to work at heights. The health assessments have been developed to ensure the well-being of all employees participating in this high risk physical activity. To retain your Working at Heights ability, recertification is to be held every 1 to 2 years. Recertification includes a recertification training course, a current Senior First Aid Certificate and passing periodic health assessments. Should you in the course of your employment no longer be able to retain a Working at Heights qualification for medical reasons you may be transferred to another centre in NSW as necessary in order to maintain effective operational readiness throughout the state at times.
