Depending on the purpose of stay in Singapore, the visa sought varies. For employment and which
usually requires a long stay, there are the Employment pass, Entrepreneur pass, S pass, and
Personalized Employment pass.

There is also for a short term stay such as Training pass, Miscellaneous pass, and Business visa.

classified into a Q1 for S$2,800 monthly salary, S$4,000 for P2, and S$8,000 for P1.”

The Employment pass is tied to the employing company. The Personalized Employment pass is not.

“With Personalized Employment pass Singapore, the holder enjoys flexibility in looking for employment
opportunities in Singapore without having to revoke old labor pass and renew it,” explains Rikvin.

The Employment pass affords one month of stay unemployed in Singapore, while the Personalized pass
provides 5 months.

Moving on, the Entrepreneur pass is exclusive for investors who have not yet completed their tertiary
level of education.

“It is applied first before the company is registered. Among the requirements to be satisfied are a
minimum capital worth S$50,000 and a 10-page business proposal,” shares Rikvin.

The Specialist pass or S pass is issued also for professionals who fall short of requirements to qualify for
a Q1.

“Holders of S pass maintain a monthly salary of S$2,000, and its approval is based on points
accumulated from indicators such as salary, nature of job, educational background, and professional
qualifications,” Rikvin continues to elaborate.

Meanwhile, those who are employed outside Singapore but are undergoing training in Singapore may
apply for a Training pass.

“To qualify, the applicants must receive a monthly salary amounting to S$2,500, and hold acceptable
tertiary level of educational qualification,” says Rikvin.

Foreign students may also apply for a Training pass.

The Miscellaneous pass is sought if foreign professionals need to stay in Singapore for short-term
assignments. This pass is valid for 60 days.
Businessmen who need to enter and leave Singapore several times to tend to their business in Singapore
may apply for a Business visa, except if the businessman comes from a country where visa is not a
requirement.
