The Department of Safety, Division of Motor Vehicles is seeking individuals as instructors for
the Motorcycle Rider Education Program. This is a non-classified position that is paid per class
taught. Classes are scheduled during the Motorcycle season at various locations throughout the
state. Currently the need is for instructors in the East, West, and Southern part of the state.

Instructors administer a variety of tests to applicants to insure qualified individuals are issued
motorcycle endorsements. Instructors disseminate information a nd data consistent with
applicable state motor vehicle laws and administrative rules as well as develop and instill the
knowledge, attitudes, habits, and skills necessary for the safe operation of a motorcycle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or its equivalent.
Experience : At least two years of recent motorcycle riding experience.
License/Certification: Currently hold a valid motorcycle endorsement that has not been
suspended or revoked at any time during the preceding two years. Candidate must successfully
complete an approved motorcycle rider education instructor preparation course to become
certified as a motorcycle instructor or show proof of prior completion.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age or older and provide certified copies
of their driving record from their state of residence. The applicant shall demonstrate concern for
rider safety, knowledge of motorcycles, and an ability to communicate with others.

Special Requirements: Selected candidate will undergo a criminal background check and
motor vehicle records check to ensure suitability for instructor position.
