Customers donate $10 to local charities and receive special Macy’s savings pass

Las Vegas, NV – March 9, 2011: Macy’s today announced it’s annual “Community Shopping Day” charity
shopping event, which has raised more than $5 million for local charities since 2004. This year’s Community
Shopping Day events will take place in select Macy’s stores on Saturday, May 14, 2011.

         “This is an incredibly special way for us to support important causes and
celebrate our connections to our local communities,” said John Gorham, Regional
Director of Stores for Macy's Southwest. “Through this program, we have been able to
raise much needed funds for the local charities that matter most to our communities and
customers. It is a compelling way to support charitable work on a local basis and will be
particularly meaningful for our charity partners this year.”

        Macy's is currently accepting charities for participation. Interested charities can
register to participate in Macy’s Community Shopping Day by visiting or calling 800.251.1431                        800.251.1431         .

        Macy’s donates shopping passes to participating charities. The shopping passes
are then sold by the charitable organizations for $10 each in the weeks leading up to the
event. The organizations keep 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the shopping
pass. Pass holders can redeem their passes at select Macy’s stores on Saturday, May 14,
2011 to receive 20 percent off most men’s, women’s, kids and accessories, fine and
fashion jewelry, housewares, china, luggage; 10 percent off furniture and mattresses, and
10 dollars off the first purchase of 25 dollars or more. (exclusions apply, see actual pass
for rules).

Stores participating in Community Shopping Day include:

              o Fashion Show, Las Vegas, NV
       Shopping passes are also sold at Macy’s stores starting on April 23 through May
14, 2011. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of the pass benefits
designated local charities.
