“In incorporating a representative office, investors must prepare documents such as a certified copy of

She adds: “It is not subject to taxation as well. However, its staff—since they are earning are obliged to
file their income tax every 15th of April of each year for three years.”
“While the office can lease an office space, it cannot lease a warehouse. It also cannot open a Letter of
Credit. Nor can it issue invoices and receipts,” she continues.
The only activities allowed are non-profit yielding, which includes initiating product sampling in a
promotional campaign, reaching out with the local agents and distributors of the parent company,
coordinate between the parent company and the agents, and liaise for the parent company.
“It can register for a Central Registration Number from Singapore Customs to allow the representative
office to import and export product samples,” assures Asiabiz.
Comprising the staff of the representative are a few employees including the chief representative.
“By obtaining an Employment pass or any other types of Singapore work visas, foreign nationals can be
appointed as the chief representative and be relocated to Singapore,” chimes Asiabiz.
