         Q and A

      By Gavin Orr
                  About the Wall
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial was the first wall to honor
soldiers from the war. The main designer of the wall was Maya
Lin, a graduate from Yale University. Maya designed the wall for
a project in one of her classes. The wall was finished on
November 1, 1982. The Memorial was made of black granite
from India. There are 58,267 names on the wall. The names on
the wall are listed from the first casualty to the last. The first
casualty was Richard Fitzgibbon, and the last was Kelton Turner.
The wall is 246.75 feet long. This wall dedicates all the names
of the soldiers that fought in the Vietnam War. In my opinion
they are some of the most bravest people that I know.
