PTO Meeting Tomorrow!
Please join us tomorrow morning for our first PTO meeting of the year.

PTO meetings are not just business meetings for the PTO board, but gatherings for everyone in the
V-O community who wants to know what's going on in and around the school where their children
spend their days! Come find out about our new website, what's planned for the fall, the latest on the
V-O rebuild efforts, and how you can get involved if you'd like. This is YOUR PTO! Come talk about
what you'd like to see at Vinson-Owen this year.

This meeting is also a great opportunity to meet V-O's Interim Principal Robert Arsenault.

Please join us Monday, October 4th at 8:45 am in the V-O art room. Hope to see you there!

Go Wild for Wrapping Paper - DEADLINE IS TUESDAY, OCT. 5TH
The kids have been having a blast with the wrapping paper activities at school this week! We had a
great kick-off assembly on Monday and the kids learned that selling wrapping paper helps the PTO
run great programs throughout the year. One of the favorite being slush at field day!
The gift wrap drive is the second greatest source of income for the Vinson-Owen PTO. The PTO
receives between 40-50% of every order placed. These funds allow every child to participate in field
trips, enrichment programs, and other school wide events sponsored by the PTO.

This year there are 2 ways to place an order:

1. The suggested way to order for yourself and local deliveries is to follow the online ordering
instructions. You can log onto www.meadowfarms.com and select Participant Registration Link.
Starting next week there will be a daily raffle prize picked. Any child that ordered online or turned in
an envelope will be entered in the drawing. Your order will be delivered to the school in early
November and sent home with your child.

2. Out of town friends and relatives can participate in our fundraiser as well. You can send them an
invitation to order at the Meadowfarms online site. The order can be paid for by credit card and it will
be shipped directly to their homes. *This type of order is subject to sales tax and shipping charges.
Your child will get credit for these sales as long as they enter the child's individual code which will
be on their invitation.

All checks should be made out to VO PTO for proper credit.

Please join the fun and place your order today!!!

Any questions can be sent to Heidi Driscoll at HDRIS40923@aol.com

Parent To Parent October Book Group
Ever wonder if your kids have too much of a good thing...cell phones, credit cards, computers,
cars? Ever worry whether things are too easy for them or whether they shoulder the expectations
and responsibilities necessary to develop strong character? Come explore these issues with other
parents as we discuss the book, "Too Much of a Good Thing: Raising Children of Character in
an Indulgent Age," by local author Dan Kindlon, Ph.D.

Using both empirical and anecdotal evidence, Dr. Kindlon sounds a wake-up call for parents raising
children in a self-indulgent world. He explains the rationale between being a good parent first and
good friend second and offers concrete advice on raising children of conscience and character.
Join us on Tuesday, October 19th, at 7:00pm in the Library Meeting Room for a lively and
informative discussion.

Books are available upon request through the library and through Book Ends. Books will also be
available for purchase the night of the meeting. This will be the first of three book groups
organized by Parent to Parent this year. Please visit our website for information on additional
programs: www.parenttoparentwinchester.org
