Senator Boxer's Grants Newsletter

Senator Boxer’s Grants Outreach Newsletter June, 2009 The summary of federal funding announcements brought to you by the Office of U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer is a service that aims to advise Californians of various grant opportunities offered by federal grant-making agencies. The summary for June 2009 includes 31 new or updated opportunities in the following areas: 1. Agriculture 2. Arts 3. Commerce 4. Education 5. Energy 6. Environment 7. Health 8. Housing 9. Humanities 10. Interior 11. Justice 12. Science 13. Transportation 14. Treasury Earlier this year, President Obama signed into law H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). To date, California has been awarded more funding than any other state in the nation, with much of this money already benefiting our state. For example, Caltrans has already broken ground on highway construction projects, school districts throughout the state have already applied for and gotten billions in Fiscal Stabilization Fund money, and local governments throughout the state are using ARRA funds to help put local teenagers to work this summer. ARRA has also lead to an increased amount of funding among some of our nation’s federal grant-making agencies. We encourage you to visit to the Grants Assistance section of Senator Boxer’s website (http://boxer.senate.gov/grants_assistance/fedfunding.cfm) to learn the latest news regarding such funding opportunities. In addition, to search specifically for Recovery Act Funding opportunities, you may visit the following section of the grants.gov website: http://www.grants.gov/applicants/recovery.jsp. Since not all federal grant-making agencies list grant opportunities each month, constituents are encouraged to visit grants.gov, the federal grants web site that allows users to electronically find and apply for current competitive grant opportunities from all 26 federal grant-making agencies. In addition, users may sign up for email updates to receive new grant postings via email as soon as they become available. Guide deadlines and guidelines may change. Please check with the awarding agency before applying. 1.
