Woodrow Wilson May 2009 Newsletter
May 2009 Dear Families, I hope this newsletter finds you happy and well. The end of the school year is near, and I hope you and your families are making plans to have a relaxing and memory-filled summer. Unfortunately, we have noticed some behavior by some parents that has caused concern. It has to do with dismissal and end of the day procedures. Although it is late in the year, we will be instituting the following policy immediately. Lately, many families have called to change the way their children are dismissed at the end of the day. We strongly request that you only make a dismissal change in the case of an appointment that can’t be changed, or an unforeseen emergency. In the case of an appointment, please send a written note in with your child at the beginning of that day. In the case of an emergency, please call the office by 2:30 p.m., as no dismissal changes can be made after this time. It is imperative that you understand, that in order to make sure that all of our students go to the many different places they need to be after school, that we can’t make last-minute changes for children at dismissal time. Mistakes can happen and that could lead to a lost child. We regret to inform you that the office reserves the right to refuse to accept a dismissal change if the above is not followed. Please remember that our number one concern is for the safety of our students. Apart from the fact that it is unsafe to make unnecessary changes, it is very disruptive to the classrooms to have to be interrupted for something that can be avoided. If a child normally rides the bus, please wait at the bus stop. Also, please don’t pick the child up at the school or remove him/her from the bus. It is safer and easier to just wait at the bus stop. We also need to reiterate that no child may change busses for any reason. Also, no walkers are allowed to ride busses at any time. If children want to go over to friends’ houses after school, the parents must arrange this with their children and their parents outside of school time. The school cannot be responsible for these arrangements. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. As always, if there is something of concern for you or your child, please let us know. If you have the time, we have the time. Peace!! Mr. Welch Principal
