UNIT 7 - Caring for the elderly

           Geriatrics= is the study of the illnesses that affect old people
                                    and the methods of treating them.

          Gerontology= is the study of the process by which we get
                                    old, how our bodies change, and the problems
                                    that old people have.

           Elderly= a polite way to refer to old people.

           Stimulate= to encourage to grow, develop or become active

            Confine=to limit an activity of a person or problem

            Assess = evaluate= consider and judge the quality or
                             worth of someone or something

Incontinent= unable to control the excretion of urine or the contents of the bowels.

Cognitive functions = connected with thinking or mental processes
