He is in charge of sending a Get Well or Condolence Card to the member or his family. The Club also sends a fruit basket to a Men’s Club member’s family after his passing. Sharon Men’s Club Profile Of The Month
INCOMING PRESIDENT HANK KAIZERMAN
Hank was born on July 9, 1931 in Boston. He grew up in Mattapan and made lifetime friendships with Club members Dave Berger and Stan Bello, all of whom graduated together from the Solomon Lewenberg Elementary School in 1945. He graduated from Boston English High School and then went to Northeastern University graduating in 1954 with a B.S. Degree. He began his career in retailing working for the R. H. White Company in Boston and after several years became the youngest buyer in the store’s 125 year history. He moved over to the Zayre’s Department Stores where he trained for six months and was promoted to manager of their store in Woburn. Four years later, he opened a Zayre’s store in Columbia, South Carolina. After spending two years in Columbia, He was promoted to Manager of the Zayre’s store in Forest Park, Illinois and built it up to the highest volume store in the company. Three years later, he was promoted to District Manager for the State of Ohio. Four years later, he was promoted to District Manager for the Mid-South States and lived in Memphis, Tennessee. After five years in Memphis, he was brought back to the home office in Framingham where he became the buyer of all prerecorded music – records, cassette tapes and other music devices – for the entire company. He retired from Zayre’s in 1981. It wasn’t long after retiring that he received a call from Family Dollar Stores in Charlotte, North Carolina with an offer he couldn’t refuse. He lived in Virginia Beach, Virginia for the three years he worked there. Hank decided that it truly was time to fully retire. He returned to the Boston area and currently resides in Foxboro. In 2003, sponsored by President Ben Greenberg and Max Taitel, Hank joined the Sharon Men’s Club. He was Recording Secretary of the club and chaired the Sad & Glad Committee for many years. He served as First Vice President last year and will become President of our club upon his installation at our luncheon on Thursday, June 4. We wish him and all our club officers and committees a successful and fun year.

NEWS AND INFORMATION Norma Simons Fitzgerald, MSW, LICSW Executive Director Office: (781) 784-8000 – Fax: (781) 784-6126 Email: sharoncoa@townofsharon.org Reminder: We are calling for submissions to our first community art show! The First Annual Juried Community Art Show is occurring June 16 – July 31. Sharon artists may submit their work for consideration by jurors for selection. This is a juried show so although it is open to submissions by Sharon residents, acceptance is not guaranteed. It is open to works in all media which must be original creations, show-ready and wired-ready for hanging. You may submit one or two pieces and the jurors’ choice is final. Work should be dropped off between June 1st and 3rd. Entry forms are available at the Adult Center. Entry fees are $5.00 per piece. Fees are nonrefundable. However we do offer some scholarships. Checks should be made payable to FSCOA. For more information, please stop by the Sharon Adult Center for entry forms and sale guidelines.
WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE FLU? - Call 211
(MASS) 2-1-1 is the dialing code for free access to health and human services information and referral. You can get the latest information about the H1N1 flu and much more, making it possible to find your way through the complex maze of human service agencies. Health Information in Multiple Languages…. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/languages/languages.html • • “Wash your hands…Cover your mouth when you sneeze (sneeze into the crook of your arm)” and don’t travel or go to school or work if you have flu symptoms but call your doctor. Have back up plans and emergency kits/supplies on hand. Just as you prepare for disasters such as hurricanes, floods, blackouts, terrorism, etc, you should do just the same for the flu. Keep an emergency kit and emergency supplies with you (copies available at the Adult Center or check online at www.townofsharon.net and click on Social Services & Help for Sharon Residents). Develop and write down a backup plan for all emergencies - for transportation to important medical appointments (dialysis, etc.) in the event that our drivers are not available, a plan for you, your family, and pets (where to go if you have to evacuate, who can help you get there), where to meet and how to contact your one another should you have to leave. (We are not referring to emergencies – you would still call 9-1-1 in emergencies but if you use our transportation for medical appointments, etc., have another plan as a backup). Check to make sure your important papers are in a fire-safe box and are up to date (will, bank account numbers, health care proxy, list of emergency numbers, etc.) and that your family/neighbor knows where to locate this in the event that you are unable to do so.
