With a volume of 78 eight-car trains, it is one of the largest rail vehicle procurement programs ever implemented in Australia. In addition to the development and manufacture of the vehicles, their operation on behalf of Rail Corp., the local provider of transport services, is also included in this contract for the whole consortium. The leading member of the consortium for vehicle development (Downer EDI) opted for FOGTEC Brandschutz on the basis of its technical concept and because of the specific technical experience of the Rail Systems team. The fire protection system for fire detection used in it is based on the smoke aspiration systems of the 7000 series. Thus, with the largest new procurement project in the Australian railway history, FOGTEC has been successful in entering the market of railway-land Australia FOGteC BraNdsChutz GmBh & CO. KG FOGteC rail systems FOGteC rail systems supply fire protection systems for regional and metropolitan trains in sao Paulo (Brazil) The Spanish rail vehicle manufacturer CAF has been awarded two contracts for the development, manufacture and delivery of 80 four-car regional trains (320 rail cars for CPTM - Compania Paulista des Trenes Metropolitanos) as well as 17 sixcar metropolitan trains (102 cars for Sao Paulo Metro) for the local and city traffic in Sao Paulo. With its 20 million inhabitants, Sao Paulo is one of the largest cities in the world and is considered to be one of the most dynamic and strongly developing cities of Brazil. Additionally, with Brazil, supplies go to one of the presently fastest growing countries of the world. The fabrication of the first two train sets will be realised in Spain, all other vehicles will be made in the new CAF works in Sao for the integration of the fire protection system, the components for the fire alarm and fire suppression system will also be supplied by FOGTEC. The fire alarm system is based on the communication units of series 3000 and on the smoke aspiration systems of series 7000 while the fire suppression system for the passenger compartment will make use of the highpressure water mist technology. This has been the first time for FOGTEC to be admitted as supplier for the large projects of the Spanish vehicle manufacturers who used to mainly cooperate with local providers in the past. Follow-up orders for more Flirt vehicles from stadler The Swiss vehicle manufacturer Stadler continues to be on the rise. Thus further orders could be secured for vehicles of the Flirt family to be operated in the countries of Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, France and Norway. Whereas those vehicles ordered for delivery to France and Norway partly require new developments, the vehicles intended for Italy, Switzerland and Hungary are options called off by the respectiveoperators. The fire protection concepts already implemented in the vehicles of the first contract will again be realised with the necessary adaptations for the vehicles ordered by the followup contracts. Thus all vehicles will be provided with a fire alarm system of the proven 9000 series. The vehicles for Switzerland and Italy will have as an additional feature the already successfully established FOGTEC high-pressure water mist technology. VOith furnishes locomotives with FOGteC fire protection systems for deutsche Bahn Deutsche Bahn AG (German Railways) has placed an order for the development and supply of 130 diesel locomotives with VOITH Turbo lokomotivtechnik in Kiel. www.FOGTEC-RAIl.com contact@FOGTEC.com Paulo. For both projects, CAF decided to cooperate with FOGTEC Rail Systems, a business unit of FOGTEC Brandschutz GmbH in Cologne, in order to satisfy the specific requirements imposed by the operator. They were introduced to replace the legendary V90 of German Railways which had been built in Kiel since 1963. The relevant approval criteria require both the fire detection and the fire suppression to be provided for the engine compartment, as well as the fire detection at the electric frames. To meet these requirements, VOITH has opted for the system solutions offered by FOGTEC Rail Systems, the News fire alarm being realised on basis of the product range of the 1000 series. For fire suppression, the contractors could once again benefit from FOGTEC high-pressure water mist technology already known from the Maxima locomotive. Already in 2008 the fire protection system was installed on a vehicle prototype. Within the scope of the type tests performed together with the Federal Railway Board and the experts accompanying it, an agreement on this order was reached between VOITH lokomotivtechnik and FOGTEC. Firema orders fire protection system from FOGteC rail systems To comply with the comprehensive approval requirements of the Italian public authorities and the corresponding regulations, also Italian vehicle manufacturer Firema trusts to the technology of the FOGTEC Company. In its projects for the vehicle operators MCNE and SEPSA, Firema will use the fire alarm technology of the 3000 series in combination with the FOGTEC high-pressure water mist technology for the passenger compartment. The whole system will be FOGteC BraNdsChutz GmBh & CO. KG FOGteC rail systems integrated in a redundant configuration into the train control system at the MVB bus on the vehicle side via the system centres by means of a data interface and offers a complete online diagnosis with service access from a central working place in the vehicle. Owing to the experience gained with Italian approval procedures in the course of mean-while many years, it has been possible to reduce the approval risk for the manufacturer con-siderably. FOGTEC Rail Systems have been able to maintain a good cooperation with the Italian approval authorities over a number of years and are meanwhile having a large number of systems in operation in Italy. Follow-up orders from Bombardier for the sprinter light train. Already before the Sprinter light Trains from Bombardier were successfully put into operation by the national railway of the Netherlands, the operator has called off further options. These follow-up orders provide for the regular supply of FOGTEC fire alarm systems of the 1000 series to be continued over the next few years. The FOGTEC technology will be used in this project for monitoring the electrical highvoltage equipment boxes in the subfloor level area. FOGteC fire alarm technology for the Bombardier tram in Bursa The established fire alarm technology of the 1000 series for monitoring electrical equipment boxes will be used also for the vehicles to be supplied by Bombardier to the city of Bursa. 146 vehicles for the operator VGF in Frankfurt and a large number of vehicles of the Springer light Train type of NS have already been equipped with this successful technology. Schanzenstraße 19A • D-51063 Köln Fon: +49 (0) 221 9 62 23-0 more Pesa orders for atr220 to FOGteC After FOGTEC Rail Systems have already equipped 13 local traffic trains of the ATR220 type with a fire protection system during the past two years, another 10 units for final stationing in the Italian region of Bari, 8 three-car-sets for Ferrovie Emilia Romagna as well as 2 two-car train units for northern Italy will be realised. Fire detection in the passenger compartments will be realised using the smoke detector series 9000 established in the Stadler Flirt projects. Adapted linear detection systems of the 1000 series will for this purpose be integrated on the smoke detectors via special interfaces. The fully automatic fire suppression will be performed using the FOGTEC highpressure water mist technology whose modular pre-assembled carrier units will be arranged in a space-saving manner on the roof according to the “plug-and-play“ principle. After having taken the first steps in the last few years, PESA is now securing for itself an increasing share in the Italian rail traffic market. extended product portfolio for the 3000 fire alarm series As an extension to the module platform of the 3000 series, the system module “Heating“ is now also available to take charge of the monitoring of the measuring sensors integrated in the fire suppression technology, and which is able to trigger off follow-up reactions from the existing central alarm system. This allows dispensing with the digital heating control or the analogue heating controllers respectively when making use of the 3000 series.
