DCM Brief: Julia C.
Hi everybody. The group info changes are in to GSO. Now we all wait for the information packets on The 2010 International Convention in San Antonio to arrive. They say they will be coming to all registered groups this fall. I will keep you informed. I do have the date of January 9 as the 75th Anniversary International Convention Volunteer Kickoff possibly at the San Antonio Convention Center. On the more current forefront, we as District 29 Trusted Servants are preparing to extend our hand in helping District 22 our neighbors north of Austin to put on the South West Texas Area 68 (SWTA) Summer Workshop July 10-12, 2009 @ Round Rock, TX at the Wingate By Wyndham Hotel, 1209 I-35 N (take Exit 253/Hwy 79) Round Rock, TX At this Event all our Area District DCM’s give reports on their district’s service work and events. There are workshops for the GSR’s and the areas of ServiceArchives, Correctional Facilities, Treatment Facilities, Public Information and Cooperation with the professional Community, Newsletter, and Grapevine. Our purpose is to as a collective group of individuals help AA carry this message and reach the individuals that need this program. A program of action to be received by the newcomer requires us to act first and be there. Sincerely your Grateful and Loving Servant
The Grapevine has to offer, to find out a way to get this delivered to your own mailbox or to submit an article, see the new District 29 website. Just sign in, then go to “Committees”. You’ll find out about it under “Grapevine.” Enjoy.

We need at least two more volunteers for the male Monday night jail meeting. You will only have to go once a month on a certain Monday of the Month I.e. 1st – 4th and that would be your commitment through the end

Archives: Steve V. No Report To preserve the AA message and carry it to other alcoholics. To preserve the history of our fellowship to prevent distortion. To cooperate with and support other AA archives and archivists working within AA’s service structure and the 12 Traditions. Literature: Lon K. No Report Carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous with Conference approved pamphlets, books, audio and visual tapes; assist AA members in reaching an informed group conscience by providing guidelines.
PI/CPC: Drew W. As District 29 PI/CPC representative I make meetings, disseminate information and literature, and generally try to encourage our group Reps to reach out to community organizations and professionals. To get the message out to those who are suffering. As a PI representatives and their fellow group members, do as much as possible to get their group schedules and other information out. Doctors, lawyers, churches, probations depts., jails, and other social services, are all places that can refer clients to our fellowship. We can also help by volunteering for Hot line phone duty at Intergroup (austinaa.org http://austinaa.org). We can also gather information on detox centers, treatment options, safehouses, etc. While at first this may not seem to be strictly PI/CPC related, it is invaluable information to have when a member of the community comes to us for 12th step help. I had personal experience with this today, and it was good to know who to call, and what options were available. Today, I understand that I know only a little, but there is a world of information and experience out there, if I know who to call. We can all try to get this information out to as many people as possible. Thanks for all you help TFC: Shanon M. No Report To coordinate the work of individual AA members and groups who are interested in carrying our message to alcoholics in treatment centers.
A note of Thanks from your District 29 DMC
A note of thanks for five years without a drink and the Sober moments that make it all worthwhile. Alcohol showed me I was powerless. You showed me I was not helpless. You tought me where I was wrong, and the blessing is I don’t have to know what is right. I just have to do what is right. You showed me that an alcoholic’s life is consumed with fear. Then you gave me a loving God that can take away all the fear if I only give it to him. Power “the sense of ease and comfort that comes at once” Peace, I can now live without the drink. You then tell me I have to give it away to keep it. You didn’ t tell me (or maybe I didn’t hear) That to give it away, I had more. Joy Thankyou for love and service in my life Grateful
Julia C.
