Cub Scout Pack 105
Memo
To: Parents and Adult Partners of Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos I Scouts From: Pack 105 Planning Committee Date: October 24, 2008 Re: Earning Belt Loops outside of Den and Pack Meetings
New Pack Policy
At our March committee meeting, it was decided to formalize our pack policy regarding the earning of belt loops. After discussion, it was decided that our scouts could earn up to five belt loops per year with their families outside of the den or pack meetings. Please see the information below regarding the belt loops.
Earning Sports Belt Loops
As has been past practice, boys who participate in community sports leagues as part of a team or organized lessons for a sport can earn a belt loop for the sport in which he participates. It is the responsibility of the parent or scout to inform the den leader of the participation in the sport.
Earning Academic Belt Loops
While most of the academic belt loops will be earned during the Webelos rank, we understand that some scouts are ready and excited to explore some academic areas. Below you will find a chart of the links between the academic belt loops and the Webelos activity badges. Please know that if you choose to earn a belt loop prior to the Webelos years, you will be required to earn them a second time during the Webelos years. Consider your choices thoughtfully. Once you have completed the requirements for the belt loop, be prepared to share what you have learned with your den leader.
