Job Description Job Title: Sales Representative Department: Sales Reports To: Vice President of Sales Overtime Status: Exempt Prepared By: Tom Lane Prepared Date: June 27, 2007 Approved By: Approved Date: SUMMARY Sell DM2 software and training services to petroleum jobbers in the assigned region by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develop a detailed understanding of DM2’s business processes and product features, benefits, pricing, applications, configurations and installation requirements. Make outbound lead generation calls to prospective and existing customers to create new sales and upgrade sales opportunities. Provide software demonstrations to prospects and customers remotely and/or by traveling through the assigned region. Develop proposals in response to customer requests. Prepare annual forecasts and make adjustments to monthly forecasts. Meet or exceed annual sales plan. Work with other sales representatives and DM2 employees to coordinate account activity that affects other regions. Estimate dates of delivery and installation for customers, based on knowledge of DM2’s delivery and installation schedules. Research and report on competitive products. Define new market opportunities for existing and new products. Prepare reports of business transactions and submit monthly expense reports. Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database. Investigate and resolve customer problems. Prepare for, travel to and attend trade shows. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times when dealing with customers, distributors and co-workers. Strictly adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in DM2’s Employee Handbook. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel up to 50 percent of the time. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear customers and distributors in order to understand their needs and present solutions to those needs. The employee frequently is required to stand for long periods of time during trade shows. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to set-up demonstration equipment and displays for presentations and trade shows.
