This budget estimate is based on the premise of 150 minutes per week minimum tuition for each student and beginning with one specialised language teacher/aide per school, building up over time as students move through the primary years. The estimate is based on employing 2140 new asian language teachers over 5 years at an average of 428 recruits per year. Based on training new recruits over phase one of 5 years at 500 per year. (States & territories should be self funding by this phase of the program and thus nullify this estimate). Salary costing of employment of new teachers over phase three of the project at an average of 428 new recruits per year for a total of 6420 new language teachers over phase three of 15 years. By the end of phase three, every school in Australia will have its own dedicated language teacher with larger schools accessing more than one. A total of 12 520 new Asian language teachers will have been employed over the duration of the project. $ 2 500 $ 2 700 Salary costing of employment of new teachers over the course of the project $ 1 000 for phase three. Costing is based on the employment of 396 teacher aides per year for a total of 5940 over the 15 year phase of the program. By the end of phase three, the program will have trained 11 880 Asian language aides/tutors. Every school in Australia will have access to its own Asian language teacher AND Asian language aide/tutor with some schools being able to access more than one and other smaller schools sharing the resource as appropriate. This includes top up funding for schools who have been part of the program from Phase one and Phase two as well as new schools coming on board and is estimated at approx. $1000 - $5000 per year per school over the life of the project. The figures are based on funding 10 000 schools across Australia in all sectors – Government and Non government. Funding to be allocated to universities through the National Institute for phase three training of 450 new teacher recruits per year over 15 years and 400 teacher aides/tutors per year over 15 years. Costs of in country scholarships for students @ 100 per year @ $20 000 per scholarship inclusive of per diem expenses.
