Legislator Day Invites Residents to New City Concert Series
Leader, (New City-Haverstraw) today announced that the New City Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Downtown New City Corporation, will open up the free “New City Summer 2009 Concert Series” on Wednesday, June 17th. The premier event, featuring Carlos Colina and the Straight Up Blues Band, will be held in Legislator Day’s district on the Rockland County Courthouse Lawn, South Main Street in New City, and he is inviting residents to join in the festivities. “It is events such as this that serve to lead the way for a renewed vibrancy in our hamlet, and given the ongoing, joint Town-County revitalization project, the timing could not be more perfect,” said Legislator Day, who also volunteers on the New City Chamber Board of Directors. He added that follow up concerts are also scheduled for Wednesday, July 15th and Wednesday, August 19th on the Courthouse Lawn. All three live concerts are free of charge, start at 6:00 PM, and beach blankets or lawn chairs are suggested. Attendees may bring food, but alcohol or Styrofoam products are not allowed on County property. In order to accommodate those who wish to dine in the hamlet prior to the concerts, the New City Chamber of Commerce has secured an “Express Dinner In by 5 PM – out by 6 PM” arrangement, along with a 10% discount, at “Legends on Main” (opposite the Courthouse) and “Ella NY Pizza and Pasta”, two blocks south of the venue. Legislator Day said, “I am proud to have been part of the planning to move this wonderful initiative forward, but it is the New City Chamber of Commerce that deserves the lion’s share of the credit for consistently being part of the driving force behind this and other fantastic events in this community.” Scheduled follow up performances include “The Temple Dudes” on July 15th, and “The Tenfingers Band” on August 19th.
