                     Emergency Medical Services
             Will Award $800,000 to Local EMS Providers
              for Ohio’s EMS Incident Reporting System

COLUMBUS– Ohio Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) is making funding available to Ohio
EMS agencies to assist in reporting to Ohio’s EMS Incident Reporting System.

“The purpose of this grant is to assist organizations in complying with Ohio’s EMS
Incident Reporting System,” said Laura Tiberi, Executive Director of OEMS. “This grant
will help in the purchase of computers, software and programming support.”

Eligible applicants include EMS organizations that meet one or more of the following
criteria:
1. EMS organizations established or operated by a township, village, city, or county
    within the State of Ohio;
2. Non-profit EMS organizations that have principal responsibility for emergency medical
    response within a political subdivision of the State and that provide emergency
    medical services under contract with that political subdivision of the State;
3. Private, for-profit ambulance services, or divisions of such services, that have
    principal responsibility for emergency medical services under contract with that
    political subdivision of the State;
4. EMS organizations that are established by a joint fire district, joint ambulance
    district, or Joint Township fire district.

Funding is provided by the Division of EMS and the State EMS Board through safety belt
fines.

There are three funding categories available to applicants. Category I provides funding
for the purchase of computer equipment. Category II provides funding for the purchase
of reporting software. Category III provides funding for programming assistance.

Grant applications must be postmarked or delivered to the Ohio Division of EMS, Grants
Administration, 1970 West Broad Street, P.O. Box 182073 Columbus, OH 43218-2073 by 5
p.m. April 15, 2003.

are any questions regarding the availability of funds.
