Carlisle ('GC'), Anne Doyle ('ADo'), Gillian Higgins ('GH'),
Lesley Kelley ('LK'), Ann Rudden ('AR'), Christy McGarry
(‘CMcG’), Amanda Fraser (‘AF’), Paula McFeely (‘PMcF’),
Francesca Snitjer (‘FS’), Cassandra Stanton (‘CS’), Mandy

                                                                                      ACTION
1 CHAIRMAN'S INTRODUCTION. APOLOGIES
MB welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Apologies received from Sharon MacDonald ('SM'), Niki Rawlinson ('NR'), Lynne
    Dowds (‘LD’), Fiona Forsyth (‘FF’).
Everyone around the table introduced themselves.
2 MINUTES OF PREVIOUS AGM held on 13th October 2009
The minutes of the last AGM were proposed by KB and seconded by AD and thus
adopted as a fair and accurate representation of the discussions.
3 CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
MB presented his annual report, reproduced in full in Appendix I.
4 TREASURER'S REPORT AND APPROVAL OF THE ACCOUNTS FOR SEPTEMBER
    2009 - AUGUST 2010
GH presented the accounts for the last year - Excel spreadsheet attached.
Highlights - Total income £16,103.10, contributions to the school £8,014.50.
The current Bank balance is £5,676.54. Points to note:
       - Monthly Draw had fewer entrants this year than previous (850 v 1,190),
therefore less profit. The prize money was the same.
       - ‘School Refund’ relates to cost of classroom games which were funded by
PSA donation but paid for by the school, then reimbursed.
       - The Bike Sale was not held alongside another event and therefore incurred a
‘Let’ fee. The other bike sale was at the same time as the May Fair and was
           therefore more profitable.
       - Leaver’s Dance- previous year’s figure included leaver’s gift which this year
is included in the £2K donated under ‘Classroom Improvements’. JH to advise
the amount spent on Leaver’s gifts and dance for Treasurer’s records. JH

MINUTES of the AGM held on
                           Tuesday 31 August 2010

Present: Mark Brown ('MB') (Chair), Aileen Davidson (‘AD’)
(Vice Chair), Dave Edwards ('DE') (Head Teacher), Julia
Higgins (‘JH’) (Deputy Head Teacher), Janis Davidson
('JD'), Fiona Priestley ('FP'), Karen Biggar ('KB'), Graeme
Carlisle ('GC'), Anne Doyle ('ADo'), Gillian Higgins ('GH'),
Lesley Kelley ('LK'), Ann Rudden ('AR'), Christy McGarry
(‘CMcG’), Amanda Fraser (‘AF’), Paula McFeely (‘PMcF’),
Francesca Snitjer (‘FS’), Cassandra Stanton (‘CS’), Mandy
Green (‘MG’), Evie Campbell (‘EC’), Mairi Morris (‘MM’)

DE noted that some repairs have been made to the Trim Trail and perhaps the PSA
could help to cover the costs. KB suggested that next meeting should include ideas
for spending for this coming year so that we have an inspiration to encourage us and AD
    other parents.
The figures are yet to be audited as the new Treasurer’s husband is no longer in a
position to do so. DE suggested asking Rev. Jeremy Middleton, School Chaplain, if
the Church has a person who they use for this. DE
The Accounts were proposed by FP and seconded by LK.

Bags to School: MM to book dates for two collections: i) after Oct. holiday ii) after MM
Easter holiday. No evening drop-off, bring in Thursday, to be collected Friday.
Uniform Sales: FF happy to be in charge of this over coming year. MB raised the FF + Vols
point that not everyone can access it if it is only in the afternoon and it was agreed
that the Parent Consultations, on the evening of 7th and the afternoon of 8th
October would be well timed for this.
Brain Pop: Teachers commented that Education City was of greater benefit to them
and children and therefore do not think we should pay for the renewal of Brain Pop
license this year. As Education City is only available to the School under current
license, JH to ask Dermot if it is possible to buy a single license that would allow all
children to access the resources from home. JH
Street Jammin’/Andy McKechnie: DE raised the suggestion that parents may be
interested in attending a Health and Wellbeing event by the above motivational
speaker. He would charge for this. Opinion to be canvassed at Meet the Teacher DE
event.
D. Mains Merchandise: KB raised idea of printed mugs, bags, trolley coins and other CS/ LK
items. CS and LK to explore options.
‘Friends of D. Mains’ Directory: Local and parent-involved businesses offer school AD
parents a discount rate. Parents buy Directory from PSA. To be explored at a later
meeting.
Used Toy Sale (with a difference): AD made a suggestion that we could perhaps run AD
a new event for children. We charge pupils a table fee and they get to run their
own stall selling their old toys. Anything unsold is taken away by them and they keep
any profit. January was suggested as a good time for this. To be discussed further
at a future meeting.

                                     CHAIRMAN'S REPORT

At last year’s AGM, the Davidson’s Mains PTA (Parent Teacher Association) voted on a change to
become the Davidson’s Mains PSA (Parent Staff Association) a reflection of the broader school staff
involvement with the Association. We also ratified the Davidson’s Mains PSA constitution, as agreed
in the Chairs last report.

Our May Fair followed by the Christmas Fair continue to be our biggest, busiest and most successful
funding events. The May fair was a little earlier this year, due to clashes in the calendar with
holidays; luckily the weather was fine on the day.

The Lottery (renamed Monthly Draw), Bag2school, the Uniform Exchange and Christmas cards -
with each of the children designing their own card, were continued again this year. All were
successful ventures in raising funds for the school.

The PSA continues to organise the spring and Halloween Discos, along with funding and support for
the refreshments for the Scots night, the Meet the Teacher event, and the school’s P7 Leavers
Dance and Leavers gifts.

This year financial support was given towards improving the school grounds to create a great playing
and learning space, towards educational software for use in the classrooms and at home, and for
small items for the classrooms.

The PSA launched our own PSA website, which is linked into the schools website to enable us to
inform parents on PSA news and events. Please have a look at:
http://www.dmainspsa.webspace.virginmedia.com/

This year the PSA started a science club with a donation of science experiments from a PSA
members’ company, and enlisted help from PSA members. This was thoroughly enjoyed by all
those who joined in.

The PSA is well supported, with many new members joining with some great new ideas on how to
take the PSA forward.

I would like to thank everyone one on the committee, all the parents, carers and school staff that
have helped support the PSA; for their valued efforts, their dedication and for the time and skills they
have volunteered.

We look forward to another successful year of fundraising and contributing towards the enjoyment
and learning for our children in our school.

Mark Brown
