Ensuring the provision of a conducive teaching, learning and development environment for staff and students;
Ensuring efficient utilization of academic resources; Ensuring the compliance of the university with the National Universities Commission (NUC) Guidelines on academic matters; and
Enhancing the conformity of the university with international academic standards

FUNCTIONS OF THE ACADEMIC PLANNING UNIT
Evaluation of proposals for new academic programmes for submission to the Academic Planning Committee, Senate and the NUC.
Preparation and revision of the academic brief of the University.
Maintenance of a computer base data-bank on student and staff statistics for use in planning, budgeting and other management requirements.
Coordination and collation of information on NUC-funded research by academic staff. Promotion of the quality of teaching, learning and research in the University through periodic evaluation of academic activities in the university.

Collation, processing and interpretation of data about University student, annual enrolment and graduation. Periodic up-dating and collection of relevant data on changing trends of university activities, i.e. students’ enrolment, staff employment and turnover as well as analysis of data for the internal evaluation of the performance status of the university on the NUC-approval parameters and guidelines. 3. Maintenance, storage and retrieval of relevant data-bases and publications for research projects and other uses as may be demanded by users. 4. Liaising with the University’s Management Information System’s Committee, IRMIS unit and the Computer Centre for the purpose of maintaining an up-to-date EDP section for the unit. 5. Preparation of the University Statistical Digest and other statistical publications as well as completion of various statistical questionnaires from the Government other agenices and institutions.
