					What are you wearing: Students watch & listen to the story “What’s Your News?” in
order to learn how to make a paper hat. They then do several activities related to
clothing.

Preparation:

        Make photocopies of the worksheet below for pairs/groups of students (Note: A

         photocopies of the worksheet. Alternatively, you could write the worksheet
         questions up on the board).



Stage/ Time                                       Procedure

Introduction         1. Tell the students that they are going to watch & listen to a story
                        called “What’s Your News?” to learn how to make a paper hat.

                     2. Split the class into pairs/groups and click on the link to project the

                     3. Click on “Play” to watch & listen to the story.
                     4. Once the story is finished, hand out the worksheets to
                        pairs/groups of students.

Writing &            1. Explain to the students that they have to put the story in order by
                        numbering the pictures. Direct their attention to the example on

                     2. Begin the activity and mingle to support students. Give them only
                        one minute.

                     3. When everyone is finished, ask the students to share their

                        answers in bigger groups. Then play the story again for them to
                        check.

                     4. Direct the students’ attention to Activity 3 and ask them if they
                        can remember what Dominic was wearing? Give the students 5
                        minutes to discuss and choose the answers in their pairs/groups.

                     5. When they are finished, play the story again for them to check
                        their answers.
                     6. Go through the answers as a whole class.

Extension            1. Direct students’ attention to the second part of Activity 3 (“What
                        are you wearing?”). Invite some strong students to come to the
  5 – 10                front to take turns telling the class what they are wearing.

                        notebooks) and draw a picture of themselves. If you like you could
                        get them to colour and label their picture.

                     3. You might like to get the students to make paper hats.

Variation            1. If time is a problem, you could get students to do the Extension
                        activity for homework.
                     2. To challenge the students, get them to do Worksheet 2 which can
