Champagnes and Sparkling Wine

No big names just great quality in the bottle

Buy any mixed 6 get 15% off, buy any mixed 12 get 20% off.

Champagne Tarlant, Oeuilly
Benoit Tarlant is the 12th generation of winemaker in his family, the estate, situated in the Marne Valley village of
Oeuilly, dating back to the late 1600s. The house style is very pure, dry and distinctly grown up.

Tarlant Brut Zero NV £29.50 per mixed 6: £25.08 per mixed 12:
               £23.60
The driest of all champagne styles, “brut zero” might not be to everyone's taste, but Tarlant's
vigorous, firm wine is a glorious example for the cognoscenti.

Champagne Jean Milan, Oger
Based in the grand cru of Oger in the Côtes-des-Blancs Jean Milan specialise in Chardonnay-driven Champagnes
that are always smooth and easy to drink, with a refreshing lightness of touch.

Jean Milan Blanc de Blancs NV per bottle: £22.50 per mixed 6: £19.13 per mixed
                12: £18.00
Jean Milan's pure chardonnay champagnes are all about breezy freshness and the lemony citrus
fruit so typical of a good blanc de blancs.

J. Milan Transparence 2006 Grand Cru per bottle: £37.50 per mixed 6: £31.88 per mixed 12: £30.00
Transporting and vivid with a wonderful, complete flavour and texture. Very classic vintage Côtes-des- Blancs
Champagne from the grand cru of Oger.

Champagne Gift Pack

A mixed set of all three Champagnes in a gift box, with free local delivery: £80.00 (saving £12.00 on normal retail
prices).

Toffoli, Veneto Italy

                        Prosecco Frizzante £9.00
A light, party style of Prosecco with a crown cap for easy opening. The one we turn to most
often for its lightly sparkling pear and apple orchard fruit.
Buy a case of 6: £8.00 per bottle (£48.00) Buy a case of 12: £7.50 per bottle (£90.00)

Red Wines

For winter dishes, celebratory dinners, great gifts and chilling out by the fire

Buy a mixed case of 12, red, white or rosé, and get 15% off.

Domaine La Boutinière, Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Frédéric Boutin recently took over the running of his family estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and has rapidly made a
name for himself with rich, warming wines that perfectly reflect the hot, arid conditions in the vineyards. Fred has
the advantage of extremely old vines and some great vineyard holdings, including a part of the famed Le Crau
vineyard.

Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2008 Classique per bottle: £17.50 per mixed
              12: £14.88
2008 is certainly a touch softer and already more accessible than the 2007, and delicious drinking
              now.

Chateauneuf-du-Pape Grande Reserve 2007 per bottle: £26.00 per mixed 12: £22.10
Made almost solely from 100 year old grenache vines from Le Crau, the Grande Reserve is fuller and richer with
huge reserves of mulberry and wood smoke.

Le Petit Boutin 2008 Vin de Table per bottle: £7.90 per mixed 12: £6.72
The baby of the range. Petit Boutin comes from a vineyard in the village of Courthezon just outside the
Chateauneuf du Pape boundaries and so cannot be labeled as such. But the grape varieties are the same and the
same winemaking skill goes into it. It is a little more rustic and doesn't get the oak ageing of the senior wines, but
this is junior Chateauneuf in all but name.

Domaine Damien Castan, Rhône
We first met Damien Castan four years ago at his family estate in the one-horse village of Domazan, next to Lirac
and Tavel and just over the river from Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The wines are hearty, warm and full, showing the
influence of the hot Provençal summers.

Côtes-du-Rhône 2008 per bottle: £7.90 per mixed 12: £6.72
Like almost all Côtes-du-Rhône (and Chateauneuf for that matter) this is based on grenache. In Damien's case this
is complemented by syrah (shiraz) and a relatively high percentage of mourvèdre, which has no trouble ripening in
the torrid heat. Unoaked, it has brightly flavoured dark fruits and a pure, silky texture.

Côtes-du-Rhône Villages ‘Signargues’ 2007 per bottle: £9.90 per mixed 12: £8.42
Damien Castan’s estate lies across the Rhône from Châteauneuf-du-Pape making similar grenache-based wines
under the same torrid summer sun. Powerful, surprisingly complex, beautifully textured and crammed with red
fruit and savoury herb flavour.

Domeco de Jarauta, Rioja
Bold, modern style Riojas from this new producer in the Rioja Baja region. With a Mediterranean influence and
plenty of garnacha grapes to bolster the more delicate tempranillo, these are wines that deliver plenty of flavour.
Vina Marro Rioja Vendimmia Selectionnada 2008 per bottle: £8.20 per mixed 12: £6.9
This “select harvest” Rioja is rich, plump and full of dark tempranillo fruit.

Vina Marro Rioja Reserva 2005 per bottle: £12.60 per
                   mixed 12: £10.71
The Reserva version benefits from longer ageing in oak and is from more concentrated fruit. A
velvet dark wine with smoky aromas, deep plummy fruit and an exotic vanilla sweetness.

Caves de Tivoli, Loire Centre
This fantastic little co-operative is based in Chateaumeillant, south west of Bourges, on the way to the northern
edge of the massif central. As in the other Central Loire districts (Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé), Sauvignon Blanc is grown
for the (rare) white and pinot noir for the reds, although the addition of a little chardonnay (white) and rather
more gamay (reds and rosé) makes the wines subtly different.

Chateaumeillant Rouge 2009 per bottle: £7.90 per mixed 12: £6.72
A light blend of gamay and pinot noir that makes us think of check table cloths and plates of charcuterie. If it were
any more French it would wear a beret. Perfect for hoovering up Christmas left overs.

Vignoble Guillaume, Franche-Comté
With vineyards only some 30 miles from the Cote d’Or, Xavier Guillaume naturally concentrates on growing
Burgundian varieties as well as supplying vines to some of the world’s best producers, including Romanée-Conti,
Pol Roger and Roederer. This is one of our all time favourite producers.

Pinot Noir Classique 2009 per bottle: £10.50 per mixed 12: £8.93
The epitome of pinot noir elegance and delicacy with raspberry-like fruit and a gorgeous aroma. A
wonderful vintage that should not be missed.

Pinot Noir Vieilles Vignes 2008 per bottle: £14.00 per mixed 12: £11.90
As delicious as the straight pinot is, the old vine bottling is a step up in concentration. This has
ample poise and definition and is an elegant companion to game bird dishes or a cheeseboard.

White Wines

Aperitifs, starters, fish and white meat, and elegant presents

Domaine Seguinot-Bordet, Chablis
Jean-François Séguinot is a rising star of Chablis. Based in the small village of Maligny to the north of Chablis, he
makes a range of wines from Petit Chablis through to Premier Cru. All share the purity and minerality that comes
from chardonnay grown at its northerly limit for ripening. No oak is used.

Chablis Village 2009 per bottle: £12.90 per mixed 12: £10.97
Bone dry, crisp and fresh with just enough fruit and softness around the edges to temper its steeliness. This is like
drinking from the most refreshing mountain stream. Absolutely classic.

Chablis 1er Cru La Fourchaume 2008 per bottle: £18.40 per mixed 12: £15.64
In July, Decanter magazine tasted 140 premier cru Chablis and this walked away with 5 stars and
a Decanter Award. The essence of Chablis' wet stone mineral raciness and discreet orchard fruit.
Domaine Philippe Gilbert, Menetou-Salon
Philippe took over the running of his family estate in Menetou-Salon only recently, turned it organic and is now
farming biodynamically (a sort of super-organic). Menetou-Salon is a neighbour of Sancerre and again produces
sauvignon blanc-based whites and pinot noir reds, but we can honestly say that we don't know of another
domaine in the region that is equally adept at both.

Menetou-Salon Blanc 2008 per bottle: £13.90 per mixed 12: £11.82
Superb organic sauvignon blanc from the vineyards of Menetou-Salon, the neighbour of Sancerre. You will be
astounded by the concentration that Philippe has managed to extract from his grapes while keeping freshness.
There isn't a Sancerre to compare at the price.

Rosé Wines

For lunch of course

Chateaumeillant Prestige Vin Gris 2009 per bottle: £7.90 per mixed 12: £6.72
Vin Gris, an extremely pale rosé, is a speciality of central France. Fresh, dry and delicate it makes a lovely
refreshing wine.

Domaine Cordaillat Reuilly Pinot Gris 2009 per bottle: £11.50 per
                   mixed 12: £9.78
This unique pinot gris rosé is a speciality of the small Reuilly region adjacent to Sancerre.
Elegant, poised and delicately coloured, yet vibrant and lively on the palate, it is a wine to drink
                   year round. Stunning with salmon.

Domaine Gilbert Menetou-Salon Rosé 2009 per bottle: £14.50 per mixed 12: £12.33
Utterly divine elegance from Philippe Gilbert’s organic pinot noir vineyards. A very spiritual pick-me-up.
