							          - YOU ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN MOUNTAIN DAY -
COME - BE PART OF THE EXCITEMENT!!

On Saturday, October 9th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Celebrate Buena Vista, Inc. will host Mountain Day, an
annual celebration of the culture, traditions, history and natural beauty of the surrounding mountains and
Shenandoah Valley. It will be held on the streets of downtown Buena Vista, and is focused on the “lost arts,”
with live demonstrations and informational displays related to our natural heritage, traditions and culture, as
well as arts & crafts, continuous live music and entertainment, children’s activities, living history interpreters,
storytelling, a classic car show, food, fun, and much more. This year’s event promises to be even bigger and
better, especially since Mountain Day is an official Endorsed Event of the Blue Ridge Parkway’s 75th
Anniversary. Several new activities are tentatively planned for this year, including a “Taste of the Mountains”, a
children’s art contest, a cornhole tournament, and more. The location, promotion, and activities promise to
provide a great showcase for vendors and a festive and fun atmosphere for customers. Last year’s festival was
a huge success, attended by an estimated 5,000-7,000 people. This year’s event promises to be even bigger
and better. Make a weekend of it. Who wouldn’t want to be here?

Location: Mountain Day 2010 will take place in downtown Buena Vista on Magnolia Avenue between 20th and
23rd Streets. There are large parking areas within close proximity to the event, offering a convenient location
for vendors and customers to access vehicles. A food court will be set up at one end of the festival, with tables
and seating, for all food vendors who are preparing and selling food on-premise.

Promotion & Attendance: It is expected that this event will attract a wide variety of customers from throughout
the region as a result of extensive newspaper and radio advertisements, promotional flyers, cross-promotion at
Glen Maury Park events and Southern Virginia University, and online exposure, as well as information on our
website at www.celebratebuenavista.org.

Rain Date: This is a rain or shine event

Deadline: Food Vendor Applications for this year’s festival must be returned by September 1, 2010.

Proceeds from the festival benefit the Buena Vista community and support beautification efforts and other
community improvement activities.

For more information on becoming a vendor, or to learn about volunteer or sponsorship opportunities, e-mail
