DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY WRITING ASSIGNMENT 1:
Write an essay describing a relative of yours who has had influence upon your
life. Choose 2 characteristics to describe that person. Follow the steps of the
writing process.

An influential person is someone that can change your life, by giving you good
advice and supporting you, in my case this person is my older brother Mohammad
has done that for me. He was always there for me when I needed him. Without
him I wouldn’t have ever finished the high school. He is the one who gave me
encouragement to move on in my life and to go to college to be somebody.
My brother Mohammad for example he’s the only one I could count on and tell him
about: school, friends, and tell him when I had problems. He would always take
the time to listen and try to solve my problems. I always had difficulty in
mathematics consequently my brother had to repeat it to me a couple of times and
explain it to me slowly, step by step as a result I could understand it. Sometimes I
felt frustrated, at times I gave up trying. Since I was too shy to ask the teachers for
help, I used to make believe that I understood the work. When I arrived home I
always asked my brother for help. He would sit down with me and have the
patience to show me how to do the work and explain it.
Another example of how my brother was an important person in my life was when
I was in high school I started to go out with the wrong friends. We used to leave
school together. We used to go everywhere. We used to go to the movies, the
park, and each other’s houses. Mohammad always told me to choose my friends
carefully; those friends will let me to drop out of school. My brother started to
check up on me in school once every week to see how I was doing, I would have
dropped out of school just like my other friends and maybe I wouldn’t be in college
right now.
I appreciate my brother because he was always taking care of me. He didn’t want
me to end up like my friends, working in jobs that have minimum salaries for the
rest of my life or being on the streets. My brother has made a difference in my life
because he encouraged me to go to school. He made me work very hard to
achieve my goals. I am very grateful for everything that he has done for me.

Online education, commonly called e-learning is a method of offering education to
learners who are not located on a campus, e-learning has utilizes information
communications technology (ICT) to promote educational interaction between
students and lecturers .online education has grown extremely over the past
decade because of its flexibility, convenience and portability, also online
education considerably increasing students contribution and encourage self-
directed learning.
Online education offers great flexibility for students specially worker students to
manage their study, For example, they may log into their virtual classes at any
time that is convenient for them and they can listen, read and watch videos
covering the course material. As a general rule, students may take as much time
as they like to go over the material and complete any assignments given, while
the instructor will normally be available to ask questions via real-time online chat,
e-mail or instant messaging.
Online education is much more convenience and portability than traditional
education. Students can organize their study on the basis of their schedule; they
can read materials online or download them for reading later. Students are not
bound by time or place, because online education does not require physical
attendance, therefore in online education, students who decide to move fast or
slow in their study.
This means that with online education students have far greater responsibility for
their own learning, it takes a great deal of time management, self-discipline and
the ability to learn independently, Students often feel that they can actually listen
to the comments made by other students, because everyone have an opportunity
to contribute, as a result This increase students interaction which lead the
students to understand the subject.

Online education is growing fast because of its flexibility, convenience and
portability ,This kind of freedom and flexibility fits many students perfectly specially
if their time is important, and they are motivated enough to be responsible for
themselves, online education could be a perfect fit for them.
