									Writing a resume:
The word resume comes from the French word resumer, which means to summarize. When
applying for a job, a candidate needs to give a perspective employer a well-organized idea of
how well he or she can perform a job or task. A resume is one way to summarize or show
these qualities at a glance. This is why it is very important to be clear and concise when
creating one.

Some good tips:
    Design each resume to fit a particular job
    Be specific—use numbers dates and names
    First, present information that is most impressive or most important to the job
      for which you are applying. This guideline will determine whether to put
      experience or education first.
    Use everyday language and short concise phrases
    Use the techniques of boldface, underline, white space, and indentations to make
      your resume readable.
    Get someone else’s reaction before typing the final copy
    Proofread carefully for spelling, punctuation, and typographical errors

Your Task: Create a Presidential resume using the format given and the years covering from
1900 through 1945. Each resume will be a summary of the presidency you have chosen from
the 1st half of the 20th century. It should summarize their qualifications and accomplishments
for and from the job.

All resumes must include:

                    whom lived to maturity.

    *Lincoln made extraordinary efforts to attain knowledge while working on a
     farm, splitting rails for fences, and keeping store at New Salem, Illinois.

EXPERIENCE:
    *Captain in the Black Hawk War
    *Eight years in the Illinois legislature
    *1858 Lincoln ran against Stephen A. Douglas for Senator--He lost the
      election, but in debating with Douglas he gained a national reputation that
      won him the Republican nomination for President in 1860.
    *His law partner said of him, "His ambition was a little engine that knew no
      rest."

ACHIEVEMENTS / SCANDALS:
     *As President, he built the Republican Party into a strong national
      organization.
     *Rallied most of the northern Democrats to the Union cause.
     *On January 1, 1863, issued the Emancipation Proclamation that declared
       forever free those slaves within the Confederacy.
     *The Gettysburg Address: Lincoln never let the world forget that the Civil War
       involved an even larger issue. Stating: "that we here highly resolve that these
       dead shall not have died in vain--that this nation, under God, shall have a
       new birth of freedom--and that government of the people, by the people, for
       the people, shall not perish from the earth."
     * Won re-election in 1864.
     * On Good Friday, April 14, 1865, Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theatre
        in Washington by John Wilkes Booth.
