?Without the use of good quality packing boxes, moving is almost impossible. Good,
sturdy, well made packing boxes turn what could be disastrous to your valuables into
a smooth, relatively painless process. Thinking ahead about the boxes you select and
the way you pack your goods for shipping or moving will keep you from having to
replace items, and therefore save you time and money in the long run.

A good quality packing box is made out of double wall cardboard. The two layers
make the boxes sturdier so they're less likely to fall apart with your items inside, and
also makes them last longer, so they are reusable.
It is definitely better to use boxes made for packing materials when moving or
shipping for this reason. Less sturdy boxes can result in broken valuables.

So, now you've got your packing boxes. If you're moving, be sure to get more than
you think you'll need, because it's a pain to find out you'll need more once you've
started packing, and have to stop until you get them.

Here are some good packing tips. Fill smaller packing boxes with books, and larger
boxes with lighter items. Put heavier items at the bottom of boxes and lighter ones on
top. Use paper or bubble wrap for fragile items, and put paper between items as well
so they don't rub together while the box is being transported. Pack the boxes firmly so
that items don't shift while being moved.

Here are some tips for putting specific items into packing boxes. If you are
transporting CDs or records, pack them vertically instead of laying flat. Wrap plates
individually, and fill in spaces in the box with bubble wrap. Also wrap delicate cups
individually with bubble wrap.

Pack extremely delicate items separately. Only pack boxes with hardcover books in
them half way, so the weight doesn't split the box, and pack the books with the spines
on alternating sides. Use paperback books to fill in empty spaces in other boxes.

Once you've picked out the boxes you would like to use and have packed them, you
need to know how to tape them up for safe transport. This also applies when you're
shipping an item. You want to use strong packing tape rather than less sturdy types,
such as masking tape.

Make sure the box is closed tightly with no bulging spots or uneven corners. Run tape
along the openings, and then around the box. Make sure you wrap tape along the
bottom and use it to reinforce the corners of the box as well, to reduce the chance that
it will split open.

Label the packing box when you're done, so that once you've reached your destination
you can place it in the room where it is to be unpacked. If you're moving house, this
will make the process of unpacking much easier since you don't have to be carrying
items for the basement down from upstairs. Mark boxes with fragile items inside. It
may be a good idea to number the boxes as well, and make a list of boxes, with their
numbers and the contents of each box.

Your time and items are valuable. It takes forethought and organization to be able to
move or ship items with as little chance of breakage or loss as possible. Moving can
be a serious hassle, but with good boxes it doesn't have to be traumatic.

Packing high quality packing boxes with a careful eye to detail as to what goes into
which box and how it's packed is a good start. Taping the boxes carefully and labeling
them will ensure that your items get where you need to get them safely.

Make the transport of your valuables as smooth and easy as possible by using good
packing boxes.
