Four pieces of jade on the opening night including one to a new client from China.

A dozen 20th century Japanese bronzes for €2,000 to €20,000 each.

Black pottery amphora from China 3rd or 2nd century BC to a new European client for around
€50,000.

Schist panel of Dipankara-Jataka, Gandhara, 1st century, to a European private client for in

abbey near Greifswald thatched cottage by moonlight, oil on canvas, 43 x 33.2 cm.

An ormolu mounted inlaid wood study of a boy seated on the back of an elephant. Meiji
period c1870. Sold at the opening to a US private collector for just over €120,000.
Fairley sold four pieces to Chinese collectors including a late 19 th century hardwood
Japanese vase for about €40,000.

 “What has been interesting today is that we have had mainland Chinese collectors and they
bought mid-priced range Japanese pieces,” said Fairley. “They are beginning to realize that
there are some extraordinary Japanese works of art. It is our first TEFAF and we are very
pleased. We had no idea that it was going to be so good.”

Three midsize works on paper from 2000 and 2010 and two larger oil on canvas paintings,
both from 2010.

The gallery explains this by the very successful exhibition Clive Head had last fall in the
National Gallery in London and the catalogue raisonné that was published in that same
period.

Egyptian Wood and bronze goose, Ptolomaic period, 2nd to 1st century BC. A rare example of
one of the manifestations of the god Amun. Three people tried to buy this. It sold for in the
region of €400,000.

Fantastic story about a Chinese couple that was very interested in Flora & Zephyr sculpture by
Benzoni. They did not buy it at the fair but regretted that so much that they called 15 minutes
before opening time the next day to wanted to buy it anyway. The asking price was € 400.000

Reported an extremely good fair. Sold well to new clients - sales included rare early Liz,
lithograph printed in colours, signed and dated in blue ballpoint, ed. 300, 1964 by Andy
Warhol (1928-1987) to a Dutch television personality. This was printed at the start of Warhol‟s
interest in icons when he was still unknown and few copies survive in good condition.
