									                      How to fold: Prefold Diapers
A prefold diaper is shaped like a rectangle, with three distinct columns (the center being the
thickest). These diapers must be folded several or more times to be used effectively on your baby,
and you will need to use a diaper cover to prevent leaks. Pins or a Snappi Diaper Fastener may be
                                       used to fasten the diapers.
                                                     The Trifold
Perhaps the easiest fold to master, the trifold creates a thick and absorbent pad that you simply lay inside a
diaper wrap. This fold will not work with pull-up style covers as the diaper will shift as baby moves. Diaper
fasteners are not used on this.

Folding Steps:
 1. Lay the diaper flat 4. Fold the other 1/3 over the center, so now you have
 2. Fold up the bottom to fit in the cover, or just a long rectangle. You may tuck the edges into the
under baby’s navel. other 1/3 you just folded over to provide stability.
 3. Fold 1/3 of the diaper over the center. 5. Lay the diaper in your diaper cover, or use as an

                                                 The Bikini Twist
The bikini twist is considered to be the most versatile fold, fitting nearly every baby it is used on. It eliminates a
lot of bulk between the legs without reducing absorption.

Folding Steps:
 1. Lay the diaper flat, with baby’s bottom on the back 3. Bring the rest of the diaper up between the legs,
half to third depending on size. and fold down the top to fit under the navel. The

                                             The Angel Wing Fold
The newspaper fold is one of the most “old fashioned” folding techniques, but it is still around today for good
reason: it fits many body types, contains messes well, and has absorption where it’s needed most!

Folding Steps:
 1. Lay the diaper flat, with baby’s bottom on the back 4. Bring the diaper up between baby’s legs, and fold
half to third depending on size. the top down to fit under the navel. You may fan

Side Sleeping Fold
Using a trifolded diaper as a doubler:
   1. Trifold a prefold diaper – infant sized prefolds generally work
      best as doublers.
   2. Lay a seperate prefold flat, with baby on the back third to half.
   3. Start the fold of your choice, ending just before you bring the
      diaper up between baby’s legs.
   4. Lay the trifold prefold in the center of the diaper as a doubler.
   5. Complete fold, fasten and cover.

Double Diapering
  1. Lay two prefold diapers out on top of each other.
  2. Lay your baby on the diaper with his or her bottom on the back half to third depending on size.
  3. Fold the diapers as you wish.
  4. Fasten and cover.

   1. Take one prefold and lay it down sideways so that it is wide instead of narrow.
   2. Fold the sides in ¼ or more towards the center.
   3. Fold one bottom edge up on a diagonal to meet the opposite edge that you folded in to the center
      in step two.
   4. Fold the other bottom edge up on a diagonal to meet the opposite edge that you folded in to the
center in step two. Aim for a blunt triangle at the bottom center of your diaper.
   5. Lay your baby on the back half to third of the diaper, depending on his or her size.
   6. Add a doubler if you would like.
   7. Bring the back corners (the “wings”) around front and the pointed end through the legs.
   8. Fasten and cover. Due to the nature of this fold, fasteners like pins may not reach if there is not
enough wingspan. It is safe to use a diaper cover with snaps or hook and loop closures without
fastening the diaper underneath as the closure pm the cover will keep the diaper snug enough to
your baby to prevent shifting. You will want to hold the diaper in place as you fasten the cover.
