         Welcome to Festival 40
Dear Festival Patrons,
It's another great year for the Fort Wayne Newspapers Three Rivers
Festival! We're celebrating 40 years of Festival fun with many exciting
changes and some fun new events. The National City Parade will be starting
in the West Central Neighborhood and more than 15 high school marching
bands will be participating. A special thank you to Sweetwater Sound and
other sponsors who have made the marching band appearances possible.
The theme of the Parade is "Happy 40th Birthday" and new for Festival 40,
Parade units will be permitted to hand out candy and other fun items.
Please note the items will be handed out and not thrown.
We have the Dog n Suds Hotdog Eating Competition immediately after the
parade in the Verizon Event Pavilion. And speaking of the Verizon Event
Pavilion, we have some great talent this year including Candlebox, Hurt,
Dark Star Orchestra,Trey Songz, and for you country fans, Billy Currington.
Many people have called the office and requested more "all-ages" concerts
and we're happy to comply. With the exception of Candlebox and Local
Band Night, all of the concerts are shows the whole family can attend. We
will also be having some of the best local talent available with the Verizon
Karaoke Competition. The semi-final rounds will be held on the first Friday,
with the finals on the second Friday in the Verizon Event Pavilion. First
Place Winner receives $7,500!
We have many new children's activities in Headwaters Park at Sensodyne
Fest Unlimited. Secure Horizons Super Seniors Day has spread like wildfire
and will now be held at the University of Saint Francis, North Campus.
Free parking, air conditioning . . . you can't beat it.
Make sure you buy a festival button - the grand prize this year is a 1969
Plymouth Fury which has been tricked out by Hires Automotive Center.
With that said, my staff told me to keep this letter short this year so . . . a
huge thank you to everyone who makes this Festival possible:Volunteers,
Sponsors, Board & Committee Members, our community partners and most
importantly - YOU!
Thank you for coming out to celebrate our 40th birthday. Have a safe and
enjoyable Festival!
Sincerely,
Shannon White
