                            Message from the Director

May 1, 2009
     Dear Fellow County Resident:

Now that the warmer weather is here, it is a great time to get outside and enjoy the out-
of-doors. Your park system provides a number of opportunities to exercise and socialize
with family and friends. If you have not tried out one of your golf courses, I invite you to
consider the benefits that golf can provide from learning a new skill and enjoying a day
in the fresh air at one of your 6 county golf courses!

If you have not played or want to tune up your golfing skills, check the schedule of
lessons that are available (pages 8-12). I would also suggest that you also consider taking
advantage of the discounted greens fees.

For those of you learning the game or with limited time, Bel-Aire or Pine Brook may
be the courses to consider. Those of you looking for a challenging day out should consider
Charleston Springs, Shark River, Hominy Hill, or Howell Park.

Golf provides an enjoyable way to exercise while spending quality time together with
a spouse, family members, and friends.

If you already enjoy the benefits of playing golf, bring a friend and introduce him or
her to the game.

Your County golf courses permanently preserve over 1,600 acres of public open space
for your use and enjoyment.

You may learn about your county golf courses, location, directions, fees, lessons,
and specifics of each course in this directory by calling the individual golf course, contacting
us at 732-842-4000 or visiting us on the website at www.monmouthcountyparks.com

     Sincerely,

     James J. Truncer,
     Secretary-Director

Junior Players Programs
(ages 11-14)
The Junior Players Club provides an opportunity
for junior golfers to enjoy organized recreational
play with friends and new acquaintances on our
Bel-Aire courses. Club members participate in
popular forms of competitive play, and receive on-
course coaching in such areas as rules, etiquette,
club & shot selection, and pace of play. Program
fee includes reserved starting times, formation of
matches & foursomes, handicaps & scoring,
prizes, and on-course coaching & supervision.
So that participants may experience the “pro-shop"
and “starter" elements of playing the game, mem-
bers are asked to pay a token greens fee of $1 per
week. Participants must have the ability, maturity
and self-discipline to play safely and at an appro-
priate pace. Because the format of the Players Club
does not lend itself to instruction on mechanics
and skills, we also offer a companion Junior
