Graduation Project:

Project Title: Experimental Study of Microbial Effects on Crude Properties and Oil
Summary: In this project, Bacillus licheniformis & Bacillus subtilis microbes were
purchased from Germany and used for designing a process to obtain the optimum
temperature at which the microbes are mostly active. Each bacteria type was
grown at six different temperatures. The microbes were mixed with crude oil.
Then, the properties of the oil with and without microbial bi-products were tested.
Then a system was designed to test the effects of each bacteria sample on the
recovery. The system included designing a model to imitate a porous media. Hele-
Shaw model was used in this case and then the results obtained were analyzed.
