REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERVIEW


Kindly ensure that the following are with you on the day of your assessment:

    1.        Completed QAS Booking form
    2.        Original ID or drivers license and photocopies (SA Interviews)
    3.        Original Passport and photocopies (Foreign Interviews)
    4.        2 colour ID photos
    5.        Valid CAA License
    6.        Attach all validating certificates / diplomas / degrees
    7.        Proof of payment

RATIONALE FOR THE INTERVIEW ASSESSMENT

The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has stipulated that by 5 March 2008 all applicants for a pilots licences, all current
pilot licence holders, Air Traffic Services Personnel and Station Operators Licences shall demonstrate, in a manner acceptable to the
licensing authority, the ability to speak and understand the English language used for radiotelephony communications in compliance
with the holistic descriptions contained in the ICAO Language Proficiency Rating Scale Document 9835.

INTERVIEW PROCEDURE

    1.        The interview may take up to a period of 45 minutes
    2.        You are requested to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your allocated time to allow for administration.
    3.        Cancellations will be accepted 48 hours prior to assessment.
    4.        Refunds will not be considered for no shows.
    5.        Interview fee of R550-00 to be deposited:

    6.        No interviews will be conducted without proof of payment.
    7.        Proof of payment to be faxed to 011 420 0486.
    8.        A qualified English Linguist and SME will conduct the interview
    9.        All interviews will be electronically recorded and retained for a period of 6 years.
    10.       Interviews will be conducted in terms of the ICAO Document 9835.
    11.       Language Proficiency Skills Testing will include:
                                          a.    Pronunciation
                                          b.    Structure
                                          c.    Vocabulary
                                          d.    Fluency
                                          e.    Comprehension
                                          f.    Interactions

    12.       The following rating scale will apply:

          Level 6    Expert                                                 Level 3     Pre-operational elementary
          Level 5    Extended                                               Level 2     Elementary
          Level 4    Operational                                            Level 1     Pre-elementary

    13.      Note: The lowest rating achieved in a particular skill will become the overall rating for the entire interview assessment.
    14       Pilots and Air Traffic Service Personnel who have been rated below Level 6 proficiency shall be tested for English Language
           .proficiency at the following intervals:

    15       Any person found to be below Level 4 will need to attend English Language Training.
    16       The candidate may be required to wait for 30 minutes after the interview for administrative purposes.
    17       Re-testing may only be conducted 90 days after initial testing.
    18       An appeals process may be followed in the case of assessment results at a cost of R550-00.
    19       We offer a “COME TO YOU” facility for assessments for 5 or more candidates up to a max. 8 candidates per day.
    20       A flat travel rate of R250-00 per visit will apply within a radius of 100km from Benoni

DIRECTIONS TO THE ACADEMY

FROM JOHANNESBURG
   1. N12 Witbank from Johannesburg in an easterly direction past the East Rand Mall towards Benoni.
   2. Take the Tom Jones offramp left.
   3. At the second set of traffic lights after you have taken the offramp, turn right into Tom Jones and continue straight for ±
       500m (you will pass underneath a subway Lakeside Mall)
   4. Right into Bedford
   5. First right into Bunyan then First right into Howard
   6. QAS Training centre on your left in the middle of the block.
   7. Alert security through the intercom on the right side of the gate.


FROM PRETORIA
   1. Proceed on the R21 and take the new Atlas Road turnoff.
   2. At the first set of robots turn left and then right at the second set – Great North Road towards Benoni
   3. Travel straight on this road for approx 13 – 14 km. This road will become Tom Jones Road (you will pass underneath a
      subway Lakeside Mall)
   4. Right into Bedford
   5. First right into Bunyan then First right into Howard
   6. QAS Training centre on your left in the middle of the block.
   7. Alert security through the intercom on the right side of the gate.
