celebrations.

At 2 p.m. on Friday 3 December, the special post-box
designed to magically transport children’s wish-lists
to Santa Claus will be officially set up on Place des
Cocotiers, at the foot of a giant 15m high Christmas
tree. Kids from surrounding primary and nursery
schools will be there to join in the show.
At 7 p.m. Noumea mayor Jean Leques will be present
in person at the Place des Cocotiers bandstand to
wave his magic wand as a signal for all the Christmas
lights to go on. Thousands of sparkling pink, green
and white fairy lights will spring into twinkling
life, bathing first Place des Cocotiers itself, then
Noumea’s other districts in a halo of glory.
Then it’s all aboard the Little Train for a spellbinding
free tour of the city illuminations. There will be plenty
of live music and fun to ensure a really festive atmos-
phere. And fairs, markets and workshops galore will
be held in Noumea all December to help you with the
