Laptops 4 Africa A Dublin Institute of Technology Project LAPTOPS4AFRICA@DIT.IE What is Laptops for Africa? A Project within a Project. Student Aid Africa. Four Computer Science students from the Dublin Institute of Technology. Our Goals “To Tackle the Global Digital Divide!” Educating students within Malawi University/Mzuzu Technical College. Better facilitating these colleges with technology and means of educating. How? The four Computer Science students will visit Malawi in Easter 2011. Work there for 6 weeks with the teachers and students. Will complete a project that will be used to help improve education and the way of life within Malawi. WE NEED LAPTOPS!! Have any lying around? Laptops just sitting Are the working? around the house or office? Are the broken? Taking up valuable space? Do you want to get rid of them but just don’t know how? Laptop Donations Laptop is working. Some minor faults may be acceptable. Ideally, a minimum of Intel Pentium 4 Processor. Laptop Requirements The laptops will have their hard drives sanitised in DIT before they are removed from the college. In Camara they will be recycled and refurbished by the staff and students of this project. Used for training and brought to Malawi next Easter. What happens to the Laptops? DON’T HAVE LAPTOPS?! You can still help! We need donations to fund this project. Any donations that are given will go towards helping the students of this project pay for flights, accommodation, vaccinations etc. You can also donate to Camara for the service of recycling any laptops given.
