The Preacher’s Walk

It started in May 2004 when I was ordained. These are outlines of sermons that
I’ve preached. They are in order by date preached but the book only contains the
outlines that I have record of. Some of the outlines contain notes and commentary
but others are only Scripture text. you will be able to tell the depth increasing as
I grew from being a beginner to a novice to intermediate and so forth. This is a
continuing work and I will add to it as I Preach more messages.

Chapter 2

Unto the pure all things are pure

2.1 Background
I preached Unto the Pure All Things are Pure at Built on the Rock Ministries under
Troy Emanuel Fox Sr. on February 13, 2005.

2.2 Message Outline
   • Titus 1 15Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled
and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
16They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being
abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

   • Titus 2 11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all
men, 12Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should
live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13Looking for that
blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour
Jesus Christ; 14Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all
iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

   • Titus 3 3For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived,
serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and
hating one another. 4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour
toward man appeared, 5Not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and
renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus
Christ our Saviour; 7That being justified by his grace, we should be made
heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

   • Heb 2 1Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which
we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2For if the word
spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience re-
ceived a just recompense of reward; 3How shall we escape, if we neglect so

10 Compilation of Sermons

great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was
confirmed unto us by them that heard him; 4God also bearing them witness,
both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy
Ghost, according to his own will?

     • Heb 3 12Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of
unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13But exhort one another daily,
while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness
of sin. 14For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our
confidence stedfast unto the end; 15While it is said, To day if ye will hear his
voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. 16For some, when they
had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all (did provoke) that came out of Egypt
by Moses. 17But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with
them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? 18And to whom
sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed
not? 19So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

     • Heb 4 1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into
his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2For unto us was the
gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit
them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3For we which have
       believed do enter into rest,

How Christians Become Born

3.1 Background
How Christians Become Born Again was most likely preached on May 15, 2005 at
The Evangelistic center, which is an inner city outreach and food pantry in Grand
Rapids, MI. This outline only contains minimal notes. I’m not sure where I was
going with some of the points.

3.2 Message Outline & Minimal Notes
Proverbs 4:27 27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from
Just as it takes a man and a woman to produce a natural child also it takes
Jesus and his bride for someone to be born again in the spirit.
Jhn 3:3 Except a man be born again... John 3:3 3 Jesus answered and said unto
him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the
kingdom of God.
1Pe 1:18-25 not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible
1 Peter 1:18-25 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with cor-
ruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition
from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without
blemish and without spot: 20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of
the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 21 Who by him do believe
in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and
hope might be in God. 22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth
through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another
with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of
incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all
flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth,

12 Compilation of Sermons

and the flower thereof falleth away: 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.
And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
John 8:14 14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself,
yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot
tell whence I come, and whither I go.
for I know whence I came, and whither I go...
       • The flesh of christ was obedient unto death.
       • We take communion
       • we should be as the flesh of christ as a Living sacrafice
       • The life is in the blood
       • It took the flesh of christ to carry that blood to the right place, even to the
cross, and it takes the flesh of christ to bring that blood into his church so that
         people can be born again.
Luke 5:16 16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
Chapter 4

Free Gift

4.1 Background
This sermon was designed to show the true price of our free gift.

4.2 Scripture Outline
The great commandment.
Mat 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Mat 22:37 Jesus
said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy
soul, and with all thy mind. Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
    The royal law.
Jam 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy
neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
    Mercy vs Judgment
    Jam 2:13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy;
and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
    Condemnation vs Justification
Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to
condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men
unto justification of life. Rom 5:19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were
made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
    Justified freely by his grace
Rom 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto
all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: Rom 3:23 For all have
sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Rom 3:24 Being justified freely by his
grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Rom 3:25 Whom God hath
set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness
for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
    According to his mercy

Chapter 5

Doing the Contemporary Will of

5.1 Background
This message was preached at Built on the Rock Ministries on 08-21-2005 under
Pastor Troy E. Fox. This message was came about after reading an online Puritan
diary. This is the first message that I cited text other than scripture.

5.2 Outline & Quotes
5.2.1 John Woolman
John Woolman was a Quaker antislavery advocate from the mid 1700s. The re-
sult of his agitation against slavery, 20 years after his death, was a doctrine that
emancipation of slaves was a religious duty among the Quaker Society. This was
100 years prior to the emancipation proclamation of Abraham Lincoln. He was a
contemporary of Gods Will for his time.
How do I become a contemporary of Gods Will? Or How do I become a doer of
Gods will for or time? Isa 55:6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye
upon him while he is near:
Psa 63:1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for
thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
That water is Living water. Jhn 4:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou
knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou
wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

5.2.2 God spreads His will thru his people.
In the late 1930s Hitler was destroying one European country after another and
sending Jews and people from other various nationalities and social groups to con-
centration camps. Corrie ten Boom was not married and lived with her family above

16 Compilation of Sermons

their familys watch shop. When the Nazis invaded Holland the ten Boom family
operated an underground enterprise that fed, clothed, and housed Jews. When the
Nazis found out, Corrie and Betsie her sister were taken to prison and then to a
concentration camp. They had smuggled a Bible and the sisters spread the hope of
the Gospel to their fellow inmates.
Here is an excerpt from the book The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom How
could we have guessed as we sat there that in place of memories we were about to be
given adventure such as we had never dreamed of? Adventure and anguish, horror
and heaven were just around the corner, and we did not know. If I had known,
would I have gone ahead? Could I have done the things I did?
Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and
     perfect, will of God.
Who do we have to prove it to? It has to be proved to you.
John Woolmans diary from the mid 1700s after the conviction of the Holy Spirit,
concerning youthful lusts and associations with people of questionable character. I
was now led to look seriously at the means by which I was drawn from the pure
truth, and learned that if I would live such a life as the faithful servants of God
lived, I must not go into company as heretofore in my own will, but all the cravings
of sense must be governed by a Divine principle.
Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts:
and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our
God, for he will abundantly pardon.

5.2.3 God proves us and we prove the will of God.
Does Gods Will work for you? Do you work for the Will of God?
Psa 26:2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. Psa
26:3 For thy loving-kindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth.
Chapter 6

God’s Purpose for Your Life

6.1 Background
This message was preached on 08-25-2005. At this point I am learning how to write
a decent message outline.

6.2 Outline
Title: God’s Purpose for Your Life
Big idea: Pursue God until He declares to you the purpose for your life.
    Purpose: The object toward which one strives or for which something exists;
an aim or a goal: ”And ever those, who would enjoyment gain Must find it in the
purpose they pursue” Sarah Josepha Hale.
    I. Seek God to acquire the purpose for your life.
    1. My purpose for being in school is to acquire the necessary education to fulfill
my lifes work according to the calling of Jesus Christ.
II. One of the main purposes of King Solomons life was to build a house unto
the Lord.
    1. 1Ki 5:5 And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD
my God, as the LORD spake unto David my father, saying, Thy son, whom I will
set upon thy throne in thy room, he shall build an house unto my name.
III. With out a purpose, life will be aimless and reactive.
    1. Pro 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth
the law, happy is he.
    2. Act 11:22,23 Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church
which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far
as Antioch. Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and
exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
Conclusion: Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Chapter 7

The goal is love

7.1 Background
This message was preached on October 23, 2005. The structure of the messages is
taking on a more formal look.

7.2 Outline
The goal is love.
Christians be careful where you wander.
    Scripture reading 1 Timothy 1:3-5
    1. 3As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that
you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer 4nor to
devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies
rather than God’s workwhich is by faith.
What is Paul urging Timothy to do?
Paul is urging timothy to stay and command certain men not to teach false
doctrines or devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies because they are
promoting controversies rather than Gods work.
    What should be promoted?
Gods work should be promoted thru the use of faith.
    2. 5The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a
good conscience and a sincere faith.
What is the goal of the commandment? The goal is love that comes from a pure
heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.
    3. 6Some have wandered away from these and turned to meaningless talk.
What have some wandered away from? Some wandered away from love and to
meaningless talk.
    4. 7They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are
talking about or what they so confidently affirm.
What do the teachers of controversies want? They want to teach the law of

20 Compilation of Sermons

What prevents them from teaching Gods law? They dont know Gods law or the
impact of the error they teach.
Chapter 8

The goal is love

8.1 Background
1Cr 10.doc 1Cr 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant,
how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And
were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same
spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that
spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with many of
them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now
these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as
they also lusted. Reference: Numbers 11:4 God was providing manna from heaven
but the people wanted meat. God provided meat but killed the people who lusted
after it. Verse 34. Lust is the desire, craving or longing for what is forbidden. Lust
is deceitful, enticing and hurtful.
7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat
down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Reference: Exodus 32:6 Moses was
up in the mountain receiving the ten commandments from the very hand of God,
but by the time he came down, Aaron had made an idol, the golden calf and the
children of Israel were worshiping it through pagan sexual acts.
8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in
one day three and twenty thousand. Reference: Numbers 25:1 The Children of
Israel began to sleep around with the daughters of a pagan nation, and go to pagan
temples to worship false gods.
9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed
of serpents. Reference: Numbers 21:5 The people of Israel spoke against Moses and
against the LORD and snakes entered into the camp and many people were bitten
and died.
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of
the destroyer. Reference: Exodus 14:27 The children of Israel were cut off and told
they would not enter into the promised land because they murmured against the

cautionary advice or warning. Ends of the world: 1 John 2:18 starts out by saying
Little children, it is the last time:
12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. Pro 16:18
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: You
are not the only person struggling with sin in your life. And there is no sin that
is a new sin, every sin has been done before. 13 but God is faithful, who will not
suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; 13 but will with the temptation
also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 14 Wherefore, my dearly
     beloved, flee from idolatry.
