Proven ZEISS Optic
for aspheric preloaded IOLs
CT ASPHINA® 613P (1)
(1) CT ASPHINA® 613P is the same IOL model as CT ASPHINA® 603P (formerly
known as XL Stabi ZO). The only difference is the new design of the preloaded
cassette that is used exclusively with SkyJet ® Advanced.
CT ASPHINA® 604P (2) (2) CT ASPHINA® 604P is the same IOL model as the formerly known Invent ZO.

“Zeissgeist” in optical design
Advancing aspherics
Carl Zeiss has a long history of experience in developing aspheric
lens concepts and solutions for a variety of products and systems.
In fact, with many of its innovative developments, ZEISS has
managed to literally capture the zeitgeist(1) of a technological era.
Consider such milestones as the first aspheres to correct astigmatisms
(1899) or a novel retrofocus type aspheric lens for high-speed motion
picture cameras (1975), to name but two.
Consider such ZEISS milestones as:

“Zeissgeist” in optical design
New generation of aspheric IOLs
For more than a century now, Carl Zeiss has defined high-level
quality, unparalleled optical expertise and outstanding innovation
in optical technology.
For the first time, ZEISS has applied this proven technology to
a new generation of aspheric IOLs used in cataract surgery.
Introducing the first members of the ZEISS Optic aspheric IOL family:
the CT ASPHINA 613P and the CT ASPHINA 604P.

ZEISS in your eyes –
Precision of the designed asphericity concept
Precision of the ZO (600) asphericity concept
In developing its aspheric lens concept, ZEISS combined the best of
both worlds: the advantages of negative spherical aberrations IOLs
and aberration-neutral IOLs.
The unique ZO / 600 asphericity concept is designed to:
correct a part of the spherical aberrations of the pseudophakic eye
be less sensitive to decentration and tilt
improve the retinal image quality of patients vs. spherical IOL
maintain depth of field vs. spherical IOL
offer maximum visual performance for the largest range of patients
be used in routine and be adapted for the vast majority of patients

ZEISS in your eyes –
A recognized eye model
The benchmark among eye models
The advanced ZEISS aspheric lens is patterned after the
Liou & Brennan (LBE) eye model, widely regarded as the most
anatomically accurate eye model in ophthalmology today.
LBE places the young, phakic human eye into an optical,
physiological and realistic environment, using, among other things, the
physiological off-axis of the pupil in nasal and the tilt of the visual/optical
axis as its basis.
Similarly, the ZEISS Optic / 600 concept closely mimics the anatomical
and optical imaging properties of the young, natural human eye.
The ZO / 600 lens design is
based on the widely recognized
Liou and Brennan (LBE) eye
model

A full range of clinically proven advantages for surgeons and
patients
The unique and well-known ZEISS aspheric Optic / 600 concept
combines the advantages of negative spherical aberration IOLs and
aberration neutral IOLs correcting a part of spherical aberrations,
maintaining depth of field, and optimizing visual performance for the
largest range of patients. The ZO (600) IOLs offer a full range of
clinically proven advantages for surgeons and patients.
Confidence in a well-known ZEISS aspheric optic
Proven efficacy of the asphericity optic concept (A)
Proven to provide the same amount of SA as the natural young
crystalline lens (B)
Proven better visual performance vs. spherical IOL (B)
Proven to maintain depth of field vs. spherical IOL(B)
Proven precise, reproducible and stable outcomes (A&B)
For routine use and adaptation to the vast majority of patients (A&B)

Proven optical excellence of the ZO (600) IOLs
Maximum visual performance for the largest range of patients
The optic of the ZO (600) IOLs closely mimics the anatomical and optical properties of young phakic
eyes for the largest range of spatial frequencies. Eyes implanted with ZEISS Optic / 600 asphericity
concept IOLs show a similar amount of spherical aberrations to the phakic eyes from the control group
(Graph 1) (A).
Graph 1: MTF curve of the ZO (600) IOL group is similar to the
MTF curve of the young phakic eyes control group, showing
that the IOL mimics the SA of the natural crystalline lens in a
stable way (12 month post-op.). (OPD-Scan measurement)

Maintained depth of field
The development of the optical concept of the ZO (600) IOLs is based on the Liou & Brennan eye
model, the most anatomically accurate eye model, allowing the IOLs to have low sensitivity to tilt &
decentration (B). The concept also keeps a small amount of spherical aberrations, maintaining depth of
field in implanted eyes equivalent to spherical IOL implanted eyes (Graph 2) (B).
Graph 2: Depth of field of eyes implanted with ZO (600) IOLs is
comparable to the depth of field of eyes implanted with
spherical IOLs. At 1 year follow-up.

Depth of field – Simulated image
The 2 pictures below clearly show the impact of the depth of field on the quality of the image, it’s really
an advantage for patients that ZO (600) IOLs maintain depth of field.

Proven optical excellence of the ZO (600) IOLs
Superior optical performance compared to a spherical IOL
Due to their innovative aspheric concept, ZO (600) IOLs outperform spherical IOLs by improving the
quality of the image (Graph 3) (B).
Graph 3: MTF curve of aspheric ZEISS Optic (600) IOLs is superior to
MTF curve of spherical IOLs, showing a higher quality of vision for the
patients implanted with the aspheric IOLs. Statistically significant
difference at all spatial frequencies evaluated. (Wasca Analyzer

SkyJet Advanced- the new, smaller incision injector only for
CT ASPHINA 613P
“I am a long time user of the ZEISS aspheric 3-haptic preloaded IOLs with the SkyJet injector system as
they offer precise, stable and efficient outcomes for routine cataract surgery. I was waiting for a new, smaller
incision injector and now it’s done with SkyJet Advanced so the combination is even more attractive”
Dr. Gilles DENIS, MD, France
Reduced surface of the SkyJet Advanced tip
Much smaller incision
SkyJet Advanced allows for an ergonomic, reliable and predictable implantation of the CT ASPHINA 613P
through a much smaller incision. The diameter of the SkyJet Advanced injection tip is significantly reduced
compared to the regular SkyJet, making the incision size required to inject the IOL much smaller.
21
SkyJet Advanced- the new, smaller incision injector only for
CT ASPHINA 613P
Predictable, controlled and safe IOL delivery
The SkyJet Advanced further improves reproducibility of injection
due to a new plunger and a new design of the preloaded cassette.
The precise folding of the IOL, its centered, straight and controlled
delivery into the capsular bag, makes the injection very safe,
predictable and comfortable.
Take advantage of the new and impressive SkyJet Advanced to maximize
efficiency, safety and reproducibility by implanting the proven CT ASPHINA
613P through a much smaller incision for improved outcomes, optimized
surgical workflow and happier patients.

SkyJet Advanced, the new smaller incision injector only for
CT ASPHINA 613P
Minimal incision, maximum performance
Due to a thinner injection tip, a new design of preloaded cassette and a new
plunger, this unique premium combination of a proven innovative aspheric
optic preloaded IOL and a high-tech injector allows for an ergonomic, reliable
and reproducible implantation of CT ASPHINA 613P, through a significantly
reduced incision size.

Cataract surgery has become a very routine procedure.
But when it comes to patient safety and well-being, there is no
room for compromise.
The advanced lens concept of the ZEISS Optic (600) is designed
to ensure a highly reproducible and precise refractive outcomes,
enabling routine adaptation to the vast majority of patients.
Moreover, it delivers the best image quality the retina can process
while preserving the depth of field.
