Establish that a difference of opinion is ok. * In pairs, chn read a story and respond to the following questons: What was your favourite part? How did it make you feel? Who would enjoy this book? Share who liked the book and didn’t. Why? Share a few favourite parts. Brainstorm words that express opinion. Establish the purpose and the structure of the text. * Read 2 or 3 Reviews. Chn identify and name the text. Briefly walk through the structure . Ask the questions: What is the purpose? Who would read or write one? Why is it important? What things can be reviewed? What might be included in one? Brainstorm these ideas. Establish structure of text *Read Anthony Brown “Voices in the Park.” Read the review about it. Deconstruct the review. In pairs, chn reconstruct the text. Discuss. Highlight words like I love and I like as language of opinion.

Tchr reads language of opinion statements, while chn respond by putting their hands on their heads when they hear appropriate statement.
