                             Bachelor of Interior Design

                       2011 LAPTOP REQUIREMENTS
All first-year students entering the Bachelor of Interior Design (ID) program in
fall, 2011 are required to have a laptop computer which meets particular
minimum requirements. These are outlined below.

The intelligent and proficient use of a computer is critical to all forms of design,
construction, operations and management relating to the built environment. All
courses in the program will emphasize and develop your computer skills in many
different ways, as suitable to the course learning goals.

The ID laptop program will afford students access to industry-specific software
applications.

The knowledge of these software applications is an invaluable tool in both academia
and industry. In academia, the software will be used in the completion of
coursework – from developing interior design drawings and models to written
reports, presentations, and specific project management documents. As well as
aiding in the student’s academic success, this knowledge and ability translate
directly into assets required in the contemporary work environment, including co-op
employment.

Students are required to purchase their laptop, per the following minimum hardware
and software specifications. This laptop will be owned and maintained by the
student. Students are also required to provide some basic but essential software
applications as outlined below.

The College will provide wireless internet access and a number of program-specific
software applications as outlined below. This software is licensed through the
College. Students registered in the program will have access to this software, with
periodic interruptions for access updates.

      recommended.
