  Fashion facts!
 The Trend Setters
Tudor England was famous for its glamorous fashions. One of the
main trend setters was Elizabeth I. Her gowns were made from the
most costly fabrics and richly embroidered with gold thread. They
were also decorated with precious gems.

Makeup
The rich women wore makeup as an indication of their status and
rank. Makeup also had a practical use – to hide the scarring of
various diseases such as smallpox.

Rich women desired to have a very pale complexion. This was
achieved with the use of white lead and vinegar. Unfortunately
this was very poisonous.
They used khol from the Middle East around their eyes.
They used rouge to redden their cheeks.
Wigs and hair pieces were also popular.
