Transfer Station Information - Town of Ludlow_ MA

                               The Town of Ludlow, Massachusetts
                                      TRANSFER STATION AND COMPOST FACILITY
                                         January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011

8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Permits are available at the DPW office to Ludlow residents for vehicles registered to a Ludlow address
for $10.00 each, residents age 62 & over are free, and are required for entry to the Transfer
Station and Compost Facility. Vehicle registration must be presented to obtain permit. Office hours are
Monday–Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Replacement permits (within the same year) will be issued upon
receipt of original permit.

No commercial vehicle or vehicle larger than a pick up truck will be allowed access to the Transfer
Station or Compost Facility.

Transfer Station

Residents with a permit may dispose of the following:
    Residential household trash
    Auto and truck batteries
    Auto tires (off rim only)
    Recyclable Materials: glass, metal, steel, newspaper, cans
    Cardboard and single polymer plastic containers
    Fluorescent tubes, mercury bearing devices
    Waste oil
    Microwaves
The following items are NOT ACCEPTED at the Transfer Station:
    Furniture (mattresses, box springs, tables, chairs, couches, etc.)
    Carpeting
    Lead paint
    Gasoline
    Propane tanks
    Ceramic toilet, sink, tub, etc.
    Truck tires
    Hazardous waste as defined by DEP (such as paint thinner, turpentine, solvents,
        lawn chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, etc.)
    Construction debris (wood, drywall, cabinets, fencing, decking, etc.)
Special Permit – must be purchased at the DPW Office:
    Refrigerator, freezer, air conditioner or any unit with Freon      $10.00/ea.
    Washer, dryer, stove, dishwasher, hot water tank, etc.             $10.00/ea.
    Television, computer and/or monitor                                $10.00/ea.

Compost Facility
   Branches, grass, leaves

Ludlow residents are encouraged to take full advantage of town-wide curbside rubbish and recyclable
collection and disposal.
