Actual Analytics is an ambit ious venture capital funded start-up company based in central Edinburgh
developing revolutionary video analytics software for the pharmaceutical industry. Actual is developing
solutions using over 40 years co mbined experience within our highly skilled R&D team, and explo iting
proprietary IP developed at the University of Edinburgh.

As a result of a recent round of funding we are looking to expand our small and highly skilled R&D team wit h
motivated indiv iduals who are looking for a challenge, and enjoy wo rking in a focused, dynamic environ ment.

The role involves leading the development of the company’s client -based products, which interface with
hardware and web-services. Development is mostly in C/C++ with bridges to Java. We are looking for someone
who takes an active interest in technology and software development as a hobby as well as a job.

Your responsibilities will be:
    Designing the client-based products
    Implementing the client-based products using best practices
    Test planning, and testing client-based products
    Documenting functionality related to client-based products
    Reviewing and clearly co mmun icating ongoing development activities, providing technical reports,
        presentations, and recommendations to management

Academic qualifications / e xperience:
    Good degree (1st /2.1 Hons) Engineering or Maths focus
    At least 3 years commercial software develop ment experience

Essential technical skills:
     C/ C++ & Java
     Experience writ ing software that interfaces with hardware

Desirable skills:
     Design patterns & UM L modeling
     Video / Image capture hardware / SDK experience

General skills:
    Good inter-personal/communications skills
    Confident working in a s mall team
    Dependable when working under tight deadlines
    Good time management skills

You should be an enthusiastic developer who displays a strong sense of ownership and pride in your code. You
must be comfortable discussing your ideas to both technical peers and non -technical users. If you have a
development background gained from working in a software house or technology business , you would be a
more natural fit to this organization.
